1.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 gilvanblight (544) - Windsor, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 21, 2011
I’m hoping I have the right beer here. What I have is a 6 pack of beer bought at the LCBO. The label is green with a red PALM logo. It says it is a Belgian Amber on the back label, but I can’t seem to find a PALM amber on the site. If anyone knows that I have the wrong beer please let me know.
Very unique six pack. Tear at the top and the side tears away. Great for getting at the beer but not so great for clean up later. Amber pour with quite a bit of white foamy head. Grainy and watery scent. Refreshing and thirst quenching. Easy to drink. Slightly sweet. Nice clean finish. Actual tastes are underpowered and not overly noticable. Hops and slightly spicy mixed with a sweet toffee finish. I have a feeling this may be the Belgian Equivalent of Labbat Blue based on the number of languages on the label, a primary export. With that in mind this rates significantly better then most Canadian exports I have tried.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 DiarmaidBHK (1392) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 19, 2011
The question begs itself to be asked: is palm the budweiser of Belgian beers or is it the natural light? A nervous nation as well as the makers if Stella Artois await the response.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Palme (1200) - Bergen, NORWAY - JAN 17, 2011
Bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. Pours a medium bronze/dark pale semi cloud body with a thin lacing head. Faint note with little flavors, some yeast and thin hops, but not much. Decent carbonated and thin bodied. Some faint citrus hints and a weak caramel. Not bad but for me this was boring.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 canary dog (516) - Rutland, Vermont, USA - JAN 15, 2011
An okay beer. It’s clean and straightforward. Not much complexity, but definitely smooth and uncomplicated. No aftertaste. What more do you want in a European lager?
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 probstk (1911) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 15, 2011
330 ml bottle from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Clear deep amber with a fair white head.
Aroma: Grain/cereal/corn, some light peppery green hop notes, a touch fruity, a bit of slightly darker malt – hints of caramel and biscuit, a little wet cardboard, a touch earthy, meh.
Palate: Medium body with fairly full effervescence.
Flav.: Wet cardboard, vague malts, not really any hop presence, vague fruitiness, nothing special; dry with a touch of bitterness and a wet cardboard and grain/cereal finish.
Is this a Belgian macro? Seems that way.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 harrisoni (9608) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - JAN 14, 2011
Bottle from Beermerchants. Clear copper brown colour. Lasting thick white head. Some yeast some caramel some hop on aroma. It’s a bit like a British bitter to be honest. Touch metallic on the finish. Wont win best Belgian Ale competitions. Its drinkable enough but has a bit of an odd flavour on end. Lacks flavour and character. Its mostly inoffensive
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Kavu (938) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - JAN 11, 2011
Pours amber with a medium head. No aroma, very slight flavor. Mostly malts. Disappointing.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Wolfbass (517) - Firenze, ITALY - JAN 9, 2011
Colore ambrato chiaro molto limpido, con leggera schiuma bianca. Sia al naso che alla bocca il malto è protagonista, ma a me non dispiace anzi.
