2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 jaghana (1803) - Strasbourg (France), FRANCE - OCT 26, 2010
Bottle 33cl from mondial de la bière. Label is on normal Palm Export, following redirection should be this one. But this beer is clearly on lower yeast, smell and aroma are on usual lagers so no sure its a Belgian ale. Anyway the beer is yellow amber with an head that goes quickly. Aroma is on classic lager nothing more, low body medium hops. Just in the average.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 otakuden (1490) - Vero Beach, USA - OCT 22, 2010
I have waited a loooooooooooong time to taste, savor, and write about the legendary coveted Palm Amber Ale. Today, I wait no longer.
Clear golden orange, when held up to the light shadows of amber flitter about like mischievous fairies at play. Her white head fades into a crown which leaves delicate lines of lace during her supping descent. Fresh grains kissed with honey sweetness, apples and pears, lemon and orange zest, matched with an overall pervasive sense of harvest freshness lifts Palm up to new levels of beery mystique. My first sup reveals more sweetness in her palate than her nose let on, though by no means does she cross the line of no return into saccharine. Sliced apples and pears lay on a platter before me, perfect for some afternoon nibblies. Honey kisses my lips while lemon and orange brightens the top of my tongue. A brisk clean finish snaps with golden-brown melba while flower petals are a subtle reflection in my breath. Sup, repeat, and enjoy more than one if you like; I did.
She won’t win any medals for ground-breaking complexity nowadays, but when Palm Amber Ale originally broke onto the Belgian beer scene, she had a sacred mission: retain Belgian uniqueness in a beer that would be visually bright along with crisp, refreshing, tasty, and sessionable so as to compete with the growing onslaught of imported pilsner-styled beers. Mission accomplished and then some. Enjoy fresh and enjoy plenty.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 inbirraveritas (712) - Budapest, HUNGARY - OCT 11, 2010
0.33 l bottle.
Clear copper colour with a medium sized and fine pored, off-white head, which remain filmy.
Low-keyed nose of caramell and yeast.
Rather thin (than medium) mouthfeeled texture escorted by a (mostly yeast charactered) moderate fruity, caramell and grassy aroma.
The taste is caramell/fruit flavoured, the light bitter finish is nutty, spicy and a bit dry, which leaves a fruity-nutty aftertaste behind.
A good drinkable, rather average kinded brew with an adequate balance.
