COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
PALM Ale has long been one of Europe’s top-selling specialty beers. Made with English hops, French Barley, and Belgian yeast, PALM represents the best of European beer-making traditions. It’s the roasted Champagne Malt which gives PALM its amber color, but without being heavy. Also available bottle-conditioned as Palm Hergist.

Draught in Groningen. Clear copper body, with an average, frothy, white head, mostly diminishing with a fair lacing. Moderate malty (caramel) and fruity aroma. Moderate sweet flavour with a light acidic note; some bitterness in the short-lasting finish. Light body with a watery texture; soft carbonation (maybe beacuse draught); light metallic feeling in the finish. Not fully satisfatory.

Tap @ Gastropub Tuulensuu. Rated @ 11.4.2010.
Poured a copper colour with a white head that fades quickly. Aroma of fruits, mild citrus and Belgian yeast. Malty aroma with mild bitterness, citrus and rye. Light bodied with a bit watery mouthfeel. Fizzy carbonation. Average.

glennmastrange (1547) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - SEP 24, 2010
Tap. Light to moderate malt notes of caramel and nutty, light herb and flowers for the hops, dough for the yeast with light dried fruit and spice in the background. Head is small, frothy, off-white with fair lacing and is mostly lasting. Flavors starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes about the same with a hint of bitterness. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively carbonation. This is a nice easy drinking Belgian Ale, something a beginner to good beer and specifically Belgians should try.

A slight metallic aroma. Dark amber color but quick-dissipating head. This is a bit sweet, fairly nice. A simple beer but tasty enough.

ClubGonzo (1732) - Bergen, NORWAY - SEP 15, 2010
On tap in the bar of Novotel Ieper, Belgium. The elegant Palm snifter glass gets filled up with a clear amber body with a mid-sized creamy tan head. Aroma is fruity caramel and a sort of airy malt scent; hard to describe properly. Taste is malt, biscuits and caramel with a pilsner-like hoppy finish. Palate is smooth and very much in the "Belge Speciale" tradition; this one is a beer that carries the genre well compared to many others I tried in Belgium. Straightforward, but very drinkable and nice enough.

On tap at some bar in NYC. Poured into a Palm snifter. Medium/light red/brown//// slash. No head at all. Not much aroma either. Mouthfeel was thin with little carbonation. Taste was.... barely existant. Some mild hop twang and very light sugary presence but not much else. Ech, pass.

A: pours a relatively pale, clear amber/ more like copper color. nice slightly off-white massive head, with a good retention level and a gorgeous lacing pattern. S: big earthy notes, solid fall fruit notes, mostly apples. hops aromas are of rich soil and flowers. T: light apple notes, with some nice pale and amber malts. very earthy flavors brought on my the hops. slight sweetness, light caramel notes. M: smooth and creamy. medium bodied ale. carbonation level is higher than normal.
