COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
PALM Ale has long been one of Europe’s top-selling specialty beers. Made with English hops, French Barley, and Belgian yeast, PALM represents the best of European beer-making traditions. It’s the roasted Champagne Malt which gives PALM its amber color, but without being heavy. Also available bottle-conditioned as Palm Hergist.

Tap at Sweet Afton. Pours a nice, effervescent amber with minimal off-white head. Hard to pick up much in the nose; some light caramel, sweet corn, and red apple notes. Flavor is also faint. Light malt and rice notes. Somewhat thin body. Crisp, slightly sweet finish. This was middle-of-the road in almost every way. Not unenjoyable, just boring.

The aroma is nothing special. It smells like a macro lager with corn and adjuncts. The appearance is golden with an amber hue and a foamy head that goes down to almost nothing. The taste is actually quite nice. It’s a bit corn like but it has a well rounded malt and grassy hops balance. The palate is smooth but average. Overall a nice tasting beer that could be made into something special.

Thanks to Redlight for cracking a bottle of this. Pours a nice amber. Musty oxidized aroma. Dry clean malt taste. Not much going on.

On tap 8/27/09: Pours a transparent deep amber bronze with a frothy well-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet pale malts with a touch of light fruits and English hops. Starts with good fullness and carbonation, well-balanced with a light sugary sweetness and floral bittering hop presence before a refreshing clean finish. A pretty drinkable Belgian ale, but could use more complexity.

Bottle and tap. Color: dark amber color with nice white head. Creamy and smooth taste, light bitterness in the finish. Good beer for summer days.

Ours amber (light) with notes of malt and simple hops. It shows slight layers of hops on the initial palate and then dries out on the finish.

Pours a light amber with a wimpy white head and not much lace at all. Not much aroma to speak of. smells a little bit malty but that’s about it. light sweet malt and bitter hop balance. pretty crisp and dry but not very flavorful over all. would be refreshing on a hot day, but that’s about all i can say for it. doesn’t really taste any different than a mediocre american amber ale.

Bottle labeles PALM Belgium’s Amber Ale. Caramelly cereal grains on the nose. Pours a golden amber, very clear with a thin white head. Caramel malts with cereal grains, very thin, not really any depth. Nothing special.
