2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: JUN 14, 2007 Retasted 14/06/2007. Ghastly - musty, caramelly, cardboard with lightly phenolic character.
Tasted 13/12/2005. 330ml bottle from Regional Wines and Spirits.
Orange-gold, bright, bubbly. Just off-white, airy, thinning head that laces up strongly. The nose is apples and toffee, at first, then oranges and a slight musty yeastiness. Orange-like chewey malt flavour with soe toffee and a little bit of a metallic finish. Light-medium weight, and softly carbonated in the mouth, but there is a long-lingering astringent harshness that develops later and doesn’t sit all that well with me.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Slightly yeasty nose. Nice clear golden colour. Taste is initially great - like a very high quality lager in a lot of ways - it doesn’t really develop into anything though, and the nicely bitter finish is refreshing and drinkeable, but uninspired. A good session ale I would imagine, but nothing to write home about. Oh, and a faint astringency comes through about halfway through the bottle that doesn’t help its cause any.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
From tap @ Kantjil & de Tijger in Amsterdam. Nice brown ale in a tulip glass - large head, nice malty flavour. Unfortunately served too cold, so the aroma was missing.

0.33l bottle, Palm Speciale, shared with and courtesy of heavy (thanks!)
The 3.6 seemed a bit high so I decided to try it again from heavy’s bottle, just to remind myself how it tasted. And was shocked... nowhere even close. Sweet malty nose, some yeast, caramel... blah. Weak, lemony taste. Some weak caramel malt, weak hop, stale yeastiness... watery. Some radlerish qualities. I’m positive that it was better before. Not the worst beer around but very unimpressive. It might’ve been an off bottle and I’ll rerate it... contains propylene glycol alginate (emulsifier/stabilizer/thickener) and potassium metabisulfite (not one of the nicer preservatives around). Why? 5/4/4/1/9.
Found in a great shop in Split today. 0.33l bottle, Palm Export. Pours a beautiful light shade of brown / dark amber maybe, and a small thick creamy head that never dissipates extremely slowly. The nose is quite fruity, but I really can’t think of which fruit (it’s on the tip of my tongue...), maybe slightly sourish. Good so far. The taste is nice enough, but not really "aleish", more like some full tasting lager. It’s quite well made though, subtle malty, fruity and creamy flavors, with some subtle bitterness in the finish and the aftertaste. I like it, not flashy, but far from offensive, and quite refreshing. 7/4/7/3/15 (3.6)

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JUL 11, 2006 Copper colour, very thick head, lasting. Fruity aroma, very smooth malty taste, with pleasant bitterness at the end. Very creamy, full bodied, maybe slightly too heavily carbonated. Good

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap. Pours deep amber with a good wite head, subsiding slowly. Sweet floral notes. Easy drinking and slightly sweet. Finishes long with bitter hop notes. A great everyday drinker.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Malty, sweet, hoppy.
Smells and tastes like sweeter English ale with caramel malt and fresher palate.
