COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
PALM Ale has long been one of Europe’s top-selling specialty beers. Made with English hops, French Barley, and Belgian yeast, PALM represents the best of European beer-making traditions. It’s the roasted Champagne Malt which gives PALM its amber color, but without being heavy. Also available bottle-conditioned as Palm Hergist.

Bottle that I picked up from somewhere, somehow in summertime, to quote a Simple Minds lyric (coz I think I got it last summer) Pours amber with large white head and a steady persistent rising of bubbles. Started off a bit malty but finishes with some bitterness, it’s a bit mellow, safe and thin, ok.

02/03 I believe this is what I had, as the label was different. 0.33 l bottle, which poured copper body with bigger brownish head. Aroma was of caramel and brown sugar, with some yeast; pretty simple yet pleasant. Flavor...nasty, a bit metallic, rotten vegetables...I don’t know what to say, really dubbed would I rate it at all, but here it is, and I will surely rerate this as it is very likely to be spoilt bottle.

larsga (6356) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 6, 2008
Smallish white head. Light amber body. Sweetish caramelly aroma with notes of straw, very faint. Sweetish straw and malts taste with faint fruity notes. A bit fruitier and warmer than a lager, but really quite similar. Some catty, rubbery notes. Aftertaste is dry and wooden without much news. Some chalkiness. It’s all right, but a bit boring. (0.33l bottle at Cardinal.)

Pours amber-red with a thin, grayish head. Faint malt aroma with fairly decent mouth feel. Carmel, fruity flavor, although somewhat weak. Not bad, but not great either.

33cl bottle: clear golden amber with off-white foam. Aroma of malt, carmel and a little skunk. Weak flavors of malt, caramel, and... uh yeah thats about it.

Bottle. A clear, golden beer with a beige head. Quite weak on the nose, with a grainy maltyness dominating. Disappointingly weak flavor, malty, with some caramel. Sure easy to drink, but too boring. Medium body, and a slightly fruity finish with some malt. Lacks bitterness I think. I remembered this one to be much more interesting, but of course my palate have changed, and it’s not impossible that the beer have changed too. Still, it’s far from a bad beer, easy to drink, and quenching. (071215)

Pale golden color with a thin, lingering white head. Aroma was competely non-apparent, which had me wondering what to expect. Smooth crisp flavor and went down easy, but the finish was light and quite ho-hum. I think this would make for a pretty good post-exercise beer, but certain nothing ’Speciale’ from the folks at Palm on this one.
