If you’re going to have this at a Belgian themed restaurant it had better be the first as your tastebuds are going to be somewhat overwhelmed by the stronger beers on offer. As an aperitif beer after the obligatory walk to the BBC in Harrington street this works well. Clean coppery hue and a fine head in its own glass (of course, even though a Tripel Karmeliet I had later was served in a, gasp, Stella glass). The nose is muted but biscuity and pleasant. An equally clean taste is present with malt and aroma hops in a good balance. Very few esters seem to be present here and interestingly it is an acceptable beer at the cold tempertaures with which it was served. It is surpassed by others on the night but as a starter and potential session beer this has fine merit.

Bottle 30cl. Poured a deep red amber, with a small wispy white head. Oaky malt aroma, with hints of fruit, though faint. Quite a rich flavour of oaky malt, hints of sweetness, very tasty despite the bitterness in the finish being a little watery. Thick palate, low carbonation. Decent tasty beer, good for sessions.

Bottle. Low and quickly disappearing head. Clear dark amber body. Weak malt aroma (domated by the smoking gentlement at the bar). Dry flavor with some spice I cannot figure out. Noney caramel.

A step above Palm Dobble. Worth a try as it has a darker appearance than the Dobble. It is equally as smooth with some additional use of hops for a unique belgian flavor.

Bottle. Head was average to large with a fizzy off-white color. It lasted reasonable long. Good lacing found in glass. Body was cloudy with some particles. Color was light muddy brown. Aroma was yeasty (sweat, barnyard, leather), with other notes being perfume, citrus, grain, caramel. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Flavor was light bitter-sweet which was ok balanced I thought. Short to average duration of finish. Very drinkable.

25cL bottle. Deep amber color, with very mellow aroma and taste. My favorite "everyday" Belgian beer. Can easily sit at the pub and drink a few.

On Draught. Red - amber hue, big head, strong lacing. Carbonated sparkle on the tongue. Lots of citrus fruit, malt, hops. Very zingy and fresh. Really liked it, good session beer I’d imagine.
