3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Bronze, thin moderate head and a good fine natural condition. Peppery hop nose like a good english bitter, body dominated by caramel and a sweet malty finish that wont offend.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
(Best by 5/July/03) (25cl Bottle) Very clear copper color that reveals a steady carbonation. The beer has pleasant hoppy/malty nose that is appetizing. Unfortunately, the palate has been ruined by the pasteurization, dead stale cardboard at the front of the palate. If this beer hadnít been cooked to death, it probably would have been quite good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Palm Hergist (750 ml refermentating) version: Slightly hazy, copper color. Head is creamy, medium sized and medium lasting. Small yeast particles float around. Spicy and fruity aroma, some malts, and a hint of iron. Taste is soft malty, spicy and refreshing. Palate is slightly metallic, medium lingering. IMO better than the normal Palm Speciale.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
it is seen as much better as common beers, but for me it aint. It is good beer, but not very special to me.. Why is evrybody that enthousistic? It isnt better than common served beers.
It misses the magic even many standardbeers have! The tinkling in your mouth, the taste for more....

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 29, 2009 I think the recipe of this one was changed a few years ago, because it is substantially sweeter and more one-dimension than i recall. Luckily there is still the "Palm Hergist" (stored under the same rating as the regular Palm Speciale here on ratebeer) with refermentation in the bottle and which is only available in 0.7 l bottles. My rating reflects score for Palm Hergist. Remark on aged bottle (BB 2004, sampled end 2009, about 8 years old): caramel and spices in aroma, orange, is this really a Palm? Flavor is quite sour for a Palm, not very complex, some fruit. Thin mouthfeel. Eight years is too much.

Amber coloured, decent head. Aroma is plums and caramel. Flavour is a little boring. Light metallic and chocolate. Vague notes of other spices but nothing distinct.
