2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
on tap at the Iron Horse, Westwood NJ. Deep golden colored body, lightly amber at the center. Not much head, thin & foamy light tan. Aroma is honey, corn malt, also husky and grassy. A little citrusy too. Flavor is dry and grassy malt, yeasty and grainy, a little tangy and citrusy. Crisp carbonation. Haven’t had this since 1991 and my friends thought it was skunked back then. They just didn’t know what it was supposed to taste like.

Not a fan of this. Thin amber color and body. Slightly toasty, caramel, and bready. A little sweet. A small Belgian yeast presence. Eh.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Amber clear with almost no head. Typical malty-hoppy lager taste, but quite intense. Drinkable, but not too much to enjoy.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
330ml bottle. 9/8/15 code date. Appearance: Dark golden/orange and clear with little white head.
Aroma: Toasted malt with slight herbal hops notes. No noticeable Belgian yeast.
Taste: Sweet toasted malt with little bitterness, hop flavor, or yeast flavor. Hint of diacetyl.
Mouthfeel: Light in body with moderate carbonation.
Finish: toasted, syrupy malt lingers. Nothing else.
Overall: One dimensional malt flavor, with no noticeable hop or yeast aroma/flavors. Hard to believe this is a Belgian beer

33cl can from a mini market at the train station in Antwerpen. Pours dark golden with a white head. Aroma of caramel and herbs with some fruity and slightly bready notes. Medium sweet with moderate flavour intensity and a modest bitterness. Quite decent, but not quite my cup of tea.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
The guy that poured this for me said it is the most popular beer in Belgium, I guess along with Stella. I guess just like in America, there is a taste for mass produced dreck. To be certain, this is better than bud or miller, but not much better. Flavor is malty, with no discernible bitterness. Slightly sweet. Better than a mass produced American beer, but not by that much.
