UPDATED: NOV 2, 2005 Another great offering from Palmetto. So easy to drink, with so many complex undertones. The malts here are top notch for an amber. My g.f. really loves this stuff.

Bottle at jaspers porch in ridgeland, SC. Pours a copper, amber color with a light khaki head. aroma is rich, sweet malt and light hops. Light bitterness in the flavor and a nice, hearty dose of malt. Oily, light body. Very nice. Could use a touch more body in my opinion but still very good.

Palmetto Amber poured in a pint glass, had great color and a very inviting aroma. the taste was stronger than anticipated for this amber. It had a very strong aftertaste that I would characterize this beer as a sipping beer vice the "cold one" after cutting the grass. Once you took the first sip you could tell this was a well crafted brew. After the third sip the initial strength of the brew became very palatable. This would be a great beer to have with a dinner.

Pours amber with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet malt, and slight hop bitterness, pine. Taste is bitter and malty. Very balanced just not a lot going on.

On tap at the King Charles Inn. It poured a slightly hazy amber color with a small white head. The aroma was moderately sweet, with bready malts and light floral hops. The taste was of mild caramel malts, bready, and a slight bitterness to the finish.

Tastes a lot like a pale ale but with less of a bite. Has a very smokey taste as you drink it. I didnít really taste any amber notes or at least itís a different type of amber than I am used to. Overall drinkable but not something I would have again.

Very mild smell, hoppy bitter taste, more than the malt of which there is very little...

12 FL oz. Pours a dark copper with a one finger, off white head. Slight sediment throughout. Aroma has faint notes of bread, citrus, and caramel. Smells alright. Taste starts out with a nice bit of caramel but ends with a harsh bitter finish and aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Overall this could be better. Ok flavours but I canít get past the harshness of the bittering.

Well as I've decided that I'm giving up beer for Lent this year, this may be my last beer and my last beer review for a while. I think I made a wise choice going local for this last hurrah with Palmetto's Amber Ale. A refreshing and drinkable brew, pours a pleasant clear amber with lots of natural foam and lacing. Has an appetizing caramel malt aroma. Taste is malty and finishes with a mildly-earthy bitterness. Subtle dark chocolate flavor if you look for it. Strikes me as very "fresh" tasting. Solid bitterness but not really hoppiness, almost tastes more like a brown ale. Very pleasant, I am impressed overall. South Carolina needs more quality local brews like this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
