2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
An appealing amber appearance... not so hot on the initial taste... but after a few sips... this amber ale becomes soothing. Good size head that lasts after the pour

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a deep copper with barely any head. Some malty aromas in the nose but faint. Flavor is filled with malty sweetness and it lingers in the aftertaste. Not bad, one of the better offerings from Palmetto.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at Palmetto, May 2015. Body is medium amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot, orange), with notes of diacetyl and toffee. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Has potential to be quite nice but this batch was partly ruined by diacetyl.

12 oz bottle into a snifter.
This is a solid, but quite average and unremarkable amber ale, It does lean a tiny bit towards the hoppier and less sweet side of the amber ale.spectrum. Even the appearance is average in terms of color, head, and clarity.

Not bad for an amber ale. Have certainly had better. Maybe a little nostalgia for my hometown of charleston, SC.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a nearly clear amber with a nice garnet hue. World class head volume, lacing and retention.
Very light nose of malt and a hint of herbal hops.
Heavy light body that has moments of a smooth texture. Slightly above normal carbonation with a nice bit of effervescence in the middle and a solid burst in the finish.
The flavor profile is intense, slightly complex and somewhat balanced. It begins with moderate herbal hop flavor over a weak sweetness that falls short of providing balance or complexity. The middle effervesces into a mild herbal bitterness. The finish is a slow herbal bitterness fade that is somewhat dry. If only it had tasted as good as it looked.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Sampled on tap at the brewery, pours a clear amber with some ringing, cream colored head. Nose is meh, some soggy cracker, some malt, a little wet dog. Flavor is the same, crackers, mild apple, soggy bread. A bit sweet too. Watery finish.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle thanks to my buddy Matt B. In his recent SC trip. The color is a clear Amber with quickly disappearing head leaving little in the glass. Aroma is toasted malt and traces of grain.
Lighter in body (borderline watery) with a lower carbonation level. Like most Amber ales the flavor just doesn’t have much going on. This one has a toasted grain base with caramel/ butterscotch hint. Bitterness is very weak without any hop flavor, just simply bitter. Nothing against this brew per say but it’s the style itself I find boring and completely uninteresting at this point.
