A very good, although unoriginal, premium American lager. If you are in South Carolina you should check this beer out.

Pretty much on target for that "premium lager" mainstream beer syle: birhgt gold color, distinctly malty with some hops, soft carbonation, low bitterness, and easily quaffable. I’m not a huge fan of the style, but this is much better than many other better known premium lagers.

This is a town I spent allot of time in as a kid when this wasn’t an option. I’m pleased Ross was able to send me Palmetto beers. This is how it rates: Clean and crisp, this is a very nice beer. Earns better ratings than its getting in my opinion. For those who haven’t been to Charleston let me tell you its a fun town with a great heritage and you know what? It has a solid beer company producing very good micros. If a golf trip or siteseeing is in the cards for you, you should give this brewery beers a look over. They are very tasty.

a pretty good lager- pours golden color. flavor reminds me of heineken, but much better. a very nice hop presence in this brew that always seems to lack in lagers. this is a damn good lager, and something ill buy again whenever i get down SC way.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Small light head, amber/gold clear body. Nose has sweet white wine, orange citrus no real malt characteristics. Nice clean flavor with some orange/lemon hints in background. Seems nicely hopped, but not overpowering. Light, but descent body, clean and crisp as the label suggests. Nothing bad about the beer. Taste is light, but good, and I love the gold color.

(bottle) nice lager gold with brisk white head. Fairly smooth lager with a whisper of hops in the finish. More body than most American Standard lagers.

Straw yellow, little head. Quite a bit going on for a plain lager I guess. Sweet and nutty malts, I got some adjunct in the finish....alright.

Bottle. The word "Palmetto" reminds me of "Saw palmetto". What is that? For some reason I think it's an ingredient in shampoo, but I don't use shampoo anymore. So yeah, this looks like any old lager and tastes of nutty malts which actually balances out nicely. Light citric flavor with some lemon in there. Better than I was expecting.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Slightly hazy golden colour with light orange and a thin off-white head. Smells of citrus (lemon, oranges & grapefruit), a small amount of hops and an even smaller amount of malt. Some fairly sweet aromas come from the beer as well. Medium-bodied; Strong malt flavour with an odd nutty taste. Some slight citrus hop taste near the end as well. Aftertaste has a great balance of hops and malt with a complexity of a top-notch beer. Overall a very nice beer that one should try if available! I was lucky enough to get my twelve ounce bottle from mabdoney in Florida...Thanks again Matt! I sampled this beer on 11-September-2003.

I must admit that Lagers are generally refreshing yet mostly boring, but this time I have found an exception with the Palmetto Lager that I bought a 6er of while on vacation in S.C. ** For a Lager this beer has a large
malt addition in the flavor and aroma, and a slightly hoppy finish. This is not as watery as Lagers tend to be, and it finishes crisp and minutely dry. This bubbly golden brew has a hint of wheat in the flavor, but most pronounced is a great caramel malt. It’s not going to make my top 50-beer list, but it is a great Lager.
