KyotoLefty (1371), Kyoto, Japan May 17, 2009 Dark amber, little head. Malt dominates nose, lots of caramel and some dark fruits. Little hop aroma or flavor, malt dominates flavor as well. Lots of caramel, rather sweet, dark fruits. Strong hop bitterness kicks in, especially in the finish, very bitter, though little aroma. Interesting, sweet and rich, almost chewy pa. Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 9, 2009 Golden-amber. Fruity, sort of blueberryish aroma. Moderately bitter, with berries. It’s got a woody dryness, light caramel & breadcrust malts along with that. OK, none too exciting. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Feb 6, 2009 Draught. Clear coppery gold with small off-white head cap. Balanced, straightforward slightly metallic earthy aroma. Crisp refreshing nice hop kiss at finish. Good mouthfeel. daknole (2810), Plantation, Florida, USA Jan 9, 2009 bottle from my sister and bro in law. thanks Ben and Dhari! Amber pour, small off white head. Aroma is very much full of malts and some sweet and slighty spicy hops. Flavor is mellow and smooth. Easy caramel matls and some hops make this pretty easy to drink. BustedFlat (552), Edina, Minnesota, USA Dec 5, 2008 On tap at 82 Queen in Charleston, SC, on 10/22/08. Amber in color. Light hoppy aroma. Taste of earthy grassy hops with some malt. Had notes of mineral water as well. CanIHave4Beers (836), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Sep 12, 2008 I had this with a grip of seafood on Hilton Head. It was fantastic. Good floral aroma, nice fluffy white head, hazy amber color. Taste was fruity and nice and bitter. It was very crisp and refreshing and went well with my meal, and if I were anywhere where I could buy it, I would buy it again! beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA Sep 2, 2008 12 oz. bottle at Mellow Mushroom, Charleston, SC. Pours a hazy amber with a thin off-white head that disappeared after the first sip. Very light, indescript aroma. Hard to pick anything specific. Flavor is typical for a pale ale with malt followed by some moderate hops bitterness towards the finish. kassner (429), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 15, 2008 Could only get abottle at Shem Creek. No head at the table for dinner, no lacing, amber color, nice hops with some but not a lot of florals, a very slight licorice in the bitter finish
