PorterPounder (2774), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Apr 24, 2008 Florence, South Carolina, Red Bone Alley Restaurant, 12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour, little to no head - slight white lacing though. Odd, artificial aroma - that is not unpleasant - reminds me of some kind of jelly-like candy you get around Christmas for a fund raiser. Flavor is muddled and artificial and has hints of apricots and peaches and a touch of citrus - sticky - in an artificial way. Thick enough. Only thing the bartender could find that was "local" when I asked - took him a while to find it and was not sure what to charge me for it - he guessed at $1.50. Worth that - this one has suffered a bit from shelf life me thinks - rating gives it the benefit of the doubt. Will rerate upon encountering again.
Dogbrick (2166), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 21, 2008 Bottle courtesy of a traveling colleague. The beer pours a clear copper color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Small patches of lace on the glass. The aroma is hoppy with a bit of citrus in the background. Medium-bodied and moderately bitter with a somewhat astringent hops flavor, along with light citrus and malt behind it. The finish is hoppy and does not linger long. Not a bad beer, although I wish I could have done a little better for my first brew from SC. Ron (700), Rochester, New York, USA Jun 16, 2008 Received one in a trade with JB and my brother brought one back from Myrtle Beach for me that someone left in his fridge. I had it at a party and it was not really cold. Aroma of hops, deep flavor of hops. Too many hops for me. cale422 (25), Timmonsville, South Carolina, USA Jun 2, 2008 A darker pale almost amber malt and hop aroma a slight citrus aroma and flavor great crisp finish. j_b (719), Rochester, New York, USA May 31, 2008 standard American pale ale, on the hoppy side, some malt, pine aroma, dry finish.
