dkachur (641), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA May 10, 2008 Bottle from TheBeerGod. Thanks! Also, my first South Carolina beer. Pours a medium brown with a small head. Chalky, earthy, slightly mocha aroma. Taste is very much peat and dirt. A hint of sweetness. A little thin.
travita (662), Lewisville, Texas, USA Jul 1, 2008 Look id dark brown to black in color with a decent beige colored head. Smell is roasty, coffee, and toasty. Taste is much the same as the smell. Dark and roasty. 00cobraR (934), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Jun 28, 2008 Wow. A solide porter. Pours out a very deep brown color with a small tan head. aroma is full of choco, and roasted malt. Flavor was smooth as silk. had a nice choco roast flavor with a slight bitterness in the finish. i was really impressed with this on. pojo41 (278), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Jun 6, 2008 Had a couple of these at Hyman’s Seafood restaurant with dinner.
Poured a dark brown to nearly black color with an OK off-white head. It left a little lacing on my glass. Aroma of dark roasted malt with an almost smoky character. Flavor of the same dark roasted malt with a slightly burnt flavor with a bit of bitterness. I thought this was a pretty good porter. It went well with my flounder. cale422 (25), Timmonsville, South Carolina, USA Jun 2, 2008 Very robust and taosty and almost chocolaste slight tar flavor but not to overpowering. Very full body and palate. Great brew for a rainy stormy SC day OSLO (590), Minnesota, USA May 29, 2008 [Bottle, thanks tennisjoel!] Pours cola brown with a tiny off-white head. Aroma is cocoa and somewhat nutty. Taste is deep roasted malt, a hint of the cocoa again and then something harshly bitter. Somewhat thin, but has a long finish. Not bad, but pretty simple and really didn’t set itself apart in any way.
