COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Barley Legal Coconut Porter is a traditional American-style porter with a decidedly untraditional addition of coconut. The addition of just the right amount of coconut gives this porter a velvety smooth mouth feel with just a bit of coconut flavor at the end. A full-bodied porter, Barley Legal pours nearly pitch black with strong aromas and flavors of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and a slight hint of coconut milk. So drinkable it’s barely legal.

Super dark brown with huge fluffy khaki head. Bitter coffee flavor with slight chocolate undertone. Don’t really get the coconut, but it’s a solid porter nonetheless.

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a clear deep amber brown with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a decent amount of coconut with roasted malts and dark chocolatey grains. Flavor starts with roasted malts and has a bit of bitter chocolate with a touch of coconut.

A - Pours a dark black-brown with a finger of frothy khaki-chocolate colored head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of roasted dark chocolate, coffee, toasted coconut, some vanilla, and a bit of molasses. T - Starts off with a mix of sweet dark chocolate malts with vanilla and lactose sweetness, molasses, and a touch of dark fruit. Through the middle, the toasted coconut comes through with some roasted coffee. The finish is a mix of sweet chocolate malts, coconut, vanilla, coffee, and a bit of molasses. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and roasty finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice overall balance with a good mix of chocolate and sweet coconut.

Bottle: dark brown to black pour with medium sized tan head. Aroma is of vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Flavor has a roasty coffee and chocolate bittersweetness with a slight vanilla and nuttiness toward the end. Overall, I found this beer tasty and rather easy to drink. I did not pick up any coconut other that a vanilla-like note but the beer was smooth I would drink more.

Bottle. Pours clear deep black/brown with a medium brown head that dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is coffee and dark roasted malt. Flavor is strong coffee, plus a bit of coconut sweetness, medium sweet, light bitter coffee finish. Mild astringence. Medium body. Surprisingly not that bad.

Bottle shared by beerboxer. Pours black with a pretty tan head and a treacle and coconut aroma. There is a chocolate and coconut flavor with a dry finish. The flavor is a bit thin, but it is otherwise pretty good.

Color is a really dark brown with an off white head. Dont pick up much for aroma. Taste is clean with a dark roast malt. Slight chocolate. Has a roast coconut flavor to it too.
