Bottle from Potje Bier, thanks! Almost black and opague. Lactose, milk chocolate and roast in the aroma. Thinnish, almost watery. Licorice and roast in the milky sweet flavor. Some most welcome sour notes. Well balanced. Surprisingly good!

Live rating from the 2,5 hour train ride tasting session 2013: Bottle: Thanks for setting this one aside, Potjebier: Medium sized, lively, ad quickly settling down cream beige light tan head/lacing on top of a almost black colored beer. Aromas of caramel, chalk, some milk chocolate, some toffee, cacao and some herbal roast. Flavours of roast, chocolate, nuts, chocolate croissants, some sweets, some bitters, light toast and a hint of berries. Aftertaste of cacoa, bitters, milk chocolate, light roast to toast, some herbs. Low carbo, soft light qatery mouthfeel, medium body and a watery texture.

PotjeBier (959) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - FEB 15, 2013
33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Color is as good as black. Beige head with only a small layer retention. Aroma’s of roasted malts, lactose, with tones of chocolate and ground coffee, a little bit of vanilla (actually one of the ingredients). Flavor is only lightly sweet, roasted, chocolate. Body is not too thin considering the 4.5% ABV. Finishes roasted and lightly bitter. Nice one.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. New brewery, like Oedipus also from Beer Temple staff. Black colour, dense creamy beige head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, hard roasted malts, light dirt, hint of cheese. Flavour is medium sweet, hard roasted malts, bitter chocolate, light fruity sweetness, light milky, bitter finish with some moccha. Medium-bodied, especially considering ABV, creamy mouthfeel. Well-made, hope their future beers will be equally enjoyable.
