3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I’ve heard about this some time ago and I knew they were offering it at Zagreb Arena during the Medveščak hockey matches, then a friend told me they had it on tap at his local bar "Eden" in Zagreb. Pours black with creamy strong off-white head that lasted very long, which makes it a very good looking Dunkel. Aroma is rather weak, just some hints of caramel and roasted barley. It tastes nice although it lacks confidence, milky, chocolatey, a little watery, full mouthfeel, creamy. No real finish. Quite a nice surprise, I’ll love to have it now and then.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Enjoyed: On tap.
Appearance: Black colour with red reflection, medium dirty-white long-lived foam.
Aroma: Somehow smelly, like some dark lagers on tap used to have in the past.
Palate: Thick; light carbonation.
Taste: Hint of sweetness. Medium bitter aftertaste. Coffee, roasted malt.
Overall impression: Quite enjoyable. From bottle is somehow different, with less aroma and taste.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap in Zagreb-Croatia (ciao Mortlach, bevi!). Pours brownish filtered color close to filtered coffee, medium ivory cap. Nose: commercial orientation with caramel and sugar bread. Mouth: extra carbo, a bit peppery and mineral, sweet extract of syrup. Not my orientation but not bad too.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle in The Loft, Zagreb (18 kuna):
This on was an okay dark lager, I’d rate it as an improvement on the Pan Zlatni that I first tried a couple of years ago but it’s by no means a classic beer. Easy to drink without coming through as thin or weak, the beer was enjoyable with a nice balance & is one I wouldn’t be against picking up again if I was ever back in Croatia.
