Lilja’s Argosy India Pale Ale is hand-crafted using a variety of choice American two-row malted barley. The hop bill includes the traditional signature English ale hop, East Kent Golding, as well as imported Bavarian hops from the Hallertau hop-growing region of southern Germany. Employing the old German technique of first-wort hopping, the entire quantity of hops is added to the brew kettle just prior to heating. The wort is then boiled for ninety minutes with no additional hops being added to the kettle. After boiling the wort is force-cooled and fermented using a selected and pure strain of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, a top-fermenting brewing yeast.

Poors a slighly hazy bright orange in color. Head is off white and rapidly diminishing. Standard IPA citrus aroma. The palate was a little light but it had a nice citrus finish with a heavy grapfruit predominance.

cloudy dirty dark amber with a frothy beige head, lace cobwebs. Taste is caramel malt that introduces light carbonation and floral hops on the swallow, neither disturbing the malt. Watery and thin, overall, but still balanced, and also quite drinkable.

12 oz. bottle from notes. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor had pale malts, floral hops, lemon/lime citrus, mild to moderate bitterness, under carbonated, very average.

Bottle at home. Pours golden amber with one finger of white head. Aroma is some citrus and malty. Flavor is malty with pine and some citrus. Pretty hoppy and bitter with a strong malt backbone. Finishes dry. Nice beer.

Rated on 11-28-2010 - This bottled beer pours a large frothy, fizzy white head that mostly diminishes, transparent yellow body, fizzy, slow rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is yeast, citrus, pine hops, sweet, fruity, and lightly spicy. The taste is lightly sweet, citrus, pine hops, and yeasty. The mouth feel is soft carbonation and this is a light-medium bodied beer. The hops are upfront as they should be for this beer’s style. The hops are not over-the-top in your face hops. The flavor is somewhat harsh tasting which is a turn off for me.

A very malty ipa and is super carbonated. Refreshing and easy to drink. Smells extremely malty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Overly hopped and dry. ’Fully-laden’ IPA doesn’t need to be this overdone. Not impressed.

Pours a hazy yellow color with a medium white head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of grainy malt and hops. Light to medium body with flavors of earthy hops, citrus and malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a short hoppy aftertaste. Just average overall.

Bottle. Cloudy speckled pale orange minimal white head. Almost no aroma. Bitter that lingers. No outstanding flavor that grabs me. Just something to suck on. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2012 Bottle to pint. Looks solid; a semi-transparent orange with white head. Smells and tastes of bitter hops and malt with a semi-sweet backbone (that’s a little thin for my preference). Eh.

(Draught) Pours a clear golden body with a medium white head. Aroma of burnt caramel, florals, butterscotch, and vanilla. Flavor of butterscotch, sour dough, grass, and citrus. Messy.
