COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lilja’s Pulling Boat Pale Ale is hand-crafted using a variety of choice American two-row malted barley and Cascade hops grown in the Yakima Valley of Washington State. Under strictly controlled conditions, the boiling wort is force-cooled and fermented using a selected and pure strain of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, a top-fermenting brewing yeast. After several days of fermentation at 66-68 degrees Fahrenheit, the wort is now ale. Before bottling, the ale is filtered and cold-conditioned to insure quality and freshness.

About a 1/2 inch thick rocky white head of fine bubbles. Nice citrusy and floral hops aromas with some rose, grapefruit and lemon. Color is a hazy dark copper. Dry and pasty mouthfeel with lots more bitter hops, grapefruit pith, lemon grass and some cereal grains. A very bitter profile to this brew. Not balanced very well with malts. Finishes dry and bitter and a bit astringent.

A cloudy ale with a taste that nears ipa in flavor. Goodly amount of co2 sizzle on the palate. Quite bitter medium long finish. The description says its filtered but I don’t think so.

Bottle. Clear golden color, small white head. Aroma of scallions and lemongrass. Taste is bitter and sour citrus. Interesting.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy honey color. Very large off white frothy head. Nice retention. Mild aroma is unique, maybe a sweet grain. Some lacing. Flavor is also grainy. A little bitter in the finish, but overall not much aftertaste. This was a little unusual, but not bad

Not a whole lotta there here. It pours to a full head with very nice lacing. But there is barely any aroma. I mean, I’m sticking my nose in the glass to the point of getting foam on it and getting next to nothing--certainly not the semi-blast of hops expected from a pale ale. With minimal aroma there is, no surprise, little discernible taste. A hint of bitterness at best. The texture is grainy, most likely that way from very active carbonation. As a loyal Wisconsin beer drinker, I hate to speak poorly of a hometown product, but this is disappointing.

Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of citrus hops and caramel malts. Flavor is sweet with the citrus hops and caramel malts. Kind of a soapy flavor on the finish.

Average brew at best. Light amber color. Light grain aroma. Taste is grain with a touch of hop bitterness. Modest head.

Bottle. Light gold pour, slightly hazy, with a white head. Fairly light aroma of citrus hops and biscuit. Lighter carbonated palate, but fine for the style. Taste is citrus hop with little in the way of malt backing. Not bad, but not terribly great either. Interesting, though - this actually gets slightly better as it warms just a bit from fridge temperature.

[Bottle] Pours a darker shade of gold with a nice cap of white foamy head. Nose is of floral hops, perfume and light grass/citrus. Overall, not a particularly strong aroma to it. Tastes of biscuits, skunky hops, grains and tart citrus notes. More bitterness comes out in the finish, which is nice. Lighter in body than I expected. Not too bad, but nothing really stands out here either.

hazy yellow gold, dinky white head, some lace. nose of malt, grass, hint of a hop presence. flavor is malt, sweet grain, light bitter hop. medium bodied, lightly bitter finish. not bad, but not a bell ringer. i prefer a richer, more bitter mixture.
