COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lilja’s Pulling Boat Pale Ale is hand-crafted using a variety of choice American two-row malted barley and Cascade hops grown in the Yakima Valley of Washington State. Under strictly controlled conditions, the boiling wort is force-cooled and fermented using a selected and pure strain of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae, a top-fermenting brewing yeast. After several days of fermentation at 66-68 degrees Fahrenheit, the wort is now ale. Before bottling, the ale is filtered and cold-conditioned to insure quality and freshness.

Bottle poured a hazy gold with a small lingering white head. Aromas of diacytel, carmel and bread. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of diacytel, light bread and light carmel with a crisp dry lingering bitter finish.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with CaptainCougar (thanks!). Poured a medium and lightly hazy orangish color with a large sized off white head. Heavy grainy aroma with some citrus and toasted caramel. Tastes of the same. Lively and over carbonated body.

Pours turbid orange with off-white head. Nose is caramel malt and hopcitrus. Tastes caramel malty, with lemongrassy hops, citrus, and some canteloupy flavors. A bit thin of palate heft.

355ml bottle. Hazed amber pour. Smell is pure malt and oxidized, the beer is old. Purchased at Binny’s Lincoln Park. They strike again with another out of date beer in the mix six. Clean it up vav. Flavor is basic, slightly pickly, no hops, just stale malt.

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2005 Bottled at Mission Grille in Sister Bay, WI. This is contract-brewed by Sand Creek Brewing Co. Clear golden pour with a short, but well-retained white head. Aroma had a solid amount of citrus and pine hoppiness, yet contained a subtle berry-like sweetness. Nice and bitter as well as slightly oily on the palate. Well-balanced malt backbone. Bitter citrus finish. Nicely hopped for the flavor, too, with some sweet caramel malts. Crisp and refreshing... nice brew.

12 oz bottle. (Friar Tuck) Springfield, IL.
Clear orange golden colour with a small white head. The aroma is very sweet with some mild hops and lots of caramel maltiness. The flavour is also sweet. There’s some bitterness, mild resiny hops and sweet maltiness. Very sweet APA.

Bottle. Light gold pour, slightly hazy, with a white head. Fairly light aroma of citrus hops and biscuit. Lighter carbonated palate, but fine for the style. Taste is citrus hop with little in the way of malt backing. Not bad, but not terribly great either. Interesting, though - this actually gets slightly better as it warms just a bit from fridge temperature.

More like a flat APA than an IPA. The body’s a golden amber with a small, quickly vanishing head. The aroma is quite mild, grainy malt with a light citric smell. Flat, and I can find no "Best By" date on the bottle. The taste is balanced like an APA soft malts with a grapeffruit bitterness. Dull.
