Poured nice and dark with a large tan head. Smelled of roasted oats, malt and some sugar. Had a coffee taste and a medium body. A bit of vanilla in there, too. Easy drinking.

For somereason difficult to find in the listings, but there it is, plain as day. Big black pour, nice presentation. Smells good and mildly charrry. Does not show its 7% alky content, fairly mild. Some bitter chocolate hiding in the background. Pretty good overall stout, not rude like so many want to be these days. Probably one of the better higher alky beers Iíve had lately. Civilized.

MIBRomeo (2494) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 23, 2012
dark pour w/ a big thick almost grey colored head and nice lacing. Smell was typical of a stout, roast malts a hint of grass. Avg palate. Flavor was fine, just unispiring and a bit mild for a 7% stout.

Pours a dark black with milk chocolate head. Smell is vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, sourness. First thing I taste is sour cherries, followed by roasted malts, a bit of sweet chocolate too. A nice above average stout.

Deep brown-black with light tan head. Roasted malt, dark fruit and cocoa. Flavor is lightly sweet and roasted malt, layered with dark fruit and semi-sweet chocolate. Slightly acidic, medium palate.

Bottle at home in London, just after watching Chelsea prevail over Bayern Munich in penalties. Pours dark brown-black with a moderate, thick beige foam head. Decent roast in the nose with some milky chocolate notes. Medium sweet flavor with dusty cocoa, roasted malts, light smoke, earth, dark chocolate, creamy chocolate. Medium bodied with average, smooth and creamy carbonation. Sweet, faintly sticky finish, lots of dark and milky cocoa, restrained roast, understated roast, some toasted grass, earth. A very solid stout overall. Iíve had this bottle for about a year and itís drinking really nicely right now.

12 oz bottle. $1.67 in mix-a-6 at Binnyís, Dec 2011. Chocolate and coffee3 roast nose. Pillowy brown head that lingers for quite a while. Solid black color. Manages to keep a low carbonation level suited for this style. But the first sip is very harsh and astringent. Let it sit to answer some Tweets, come back to find itís mellowed a little, but still has a bitter coffee character. I just canít get behind it. Properly bitter to mark the Blackhawks season ending tonight, I guess.

Wow! This is good beer. It pours an opaque black with a big brown frothy head. Nose is greeted with aroma of chocolate and malt. Taste is loaded with dark chocolate, coffee, molasses and dark roasted malts. Nice viscosity and mouthfeel. One of the best stouts Iíve ever tasted. Pairs well with meats off the grill - burgers, brats and ribs.

(bottle). Nice sweet aroma with bittersweet chocolate. Dark brown complexion with tan head, minimal lacing. Full flavored and rich with notes of dark chocolate. Nice balance and smooth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
