Draft at OF. Opaque brown black. Steady brown-beige head. Some roasty chocolate bitterness up front fades into a sweet, watery finish. Rather average in most respects, enjoyable enough. Cocoa chocolate aroma.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black with a medium frothy off-white head that dissipates slowly to a film. Top ring of lace with spots underneath. Roasty malt aroma with notes of chocolate and hops. Medium body with flavors of burnt malt, chocolate, mild coffee and hops. The finish is roasty with a short coffee aftertaste. Above average overall.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Shades of chocolate and toffee in the aroma but nothing overwhelming. Pours to a medium brown head. A quick snap of bitterness on first taste, which slowly fades to a dry finish. Lighter weight than most stouts. I get a sense of heavier carbonation on the tongue, but it would take a spotlight to actually look through this inky stout to spot the bubbles. Pleasant enough.

12oz bottle. Black color, minimal light brown head. Carbonation a bit pronounced. Really nice roasty bitter taste. Some coffee - aroma is less impressive than the taste, but still good. Little loose spots of lace. Visible sediment on the bottom. A good stout.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle into a snifter. Pours a deep brown with a frothy head. Smell has a sweet toffee note with some chocolate and coffee hints. The body is full and the taste is very good. It had a sweet taste with vanilla and coffee hints. What I liked about this beer is that it had a great imperial stout taste without the high alcohol taste and impact that often accompanies this style.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep dark brown coloured body with a creamy, frothy off-white head that leaves a soapy residue. Aroma of everything nice - oak, vanilla pods, coffee, roasted malt, alcohol and even a touch of light hops. Medium-bodied; Strong assertive roasty malt flavour with some peat, a touch of anise, some light nuts, cream and coffee all noticeable. Aftertaste is complex, not too potent and showing a good level of character, while maintaining a slightly easy going attitude. Overall, a nice beer that shows a lot of character very well without deep pungent flavours. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 08-May-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 20-September-2011.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thirsty Troll Brew Fest. Pour is deep brown/black with a tan head. Aroma shows dark chocolate, earth, and light roast. Flavor shows the same with hints of dark fruit, light coffee, and what seems like a touch of licorice. Overall body is moderate and finishes with light to moderate bitterness.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Dark chocolate, bitter toffee smell. Beer tastes of dark chocolate, malty with hops to it. Roasted aftertaste, slightly bitter. Very solid beer, this score is overinflated though. Tastes a bit too watery to me to earn a 90+, then again I canít even tell how the hell this site ends up taking our base scores and calculating em to be honest. 7% alcohol.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
dark color, great head, strong roasted flavor with a bitter, dry finish. This one also has a taste of currants and rye bread. Very complex, very interesting, and very delicious. Reminds me both of a milk stout and an imperial stout.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 8/29/11
Aroma: The nose is bittersweet chocolate, some dry/roasty malts, and some oatiness
Appearance: It pours a dark balckish color with a small beige head and light lace
Flavor: The taste is malty, not particularly sweet, more roasty, with a mild bitterness too
Palate: The body is rather light for the style, a touch watery, smooth and soft, decently drinkable
This is an OK stout overall, but not one that is going to blow anyone away. A nice light bodied beer that doesnít run into the common issue of being overly sweet. I can certainly see the appeal, it isnít bad, but I donít have high praise for it either. Itís just fine.
