ESATIKKFAN (18) - New Jersey, USA - OCT 1, 2011
Bottle into a snifter. Pours a deep brown with a frothy head. Smell has a sweet toffee note with some chocolate and coffee hints. The body is full and the taste is very good. It had a sweet taste with vanilla and coffee hints. What I liked about this beer is that it had a great imperial stout taste without the high alcohol taste and impact that often accompanies this style.

Bitter and slightly tart. Not sure if this is a bad bottle or if this is what it is supposed to taste like.

bartlebier (2072) - Belchum im Breisgau, GERMANY - AUG 11, 2014
12oz bought somewhere along the road in WI, 09/2013. Pours exquisitely rich coffee with rich espresso crema. Tangy aroma of liquorice and filter coffee, continued in taste, only getting more riche and chocolate-full as it warms, with a thinner liquid tobacco edge. Very well balanced, up until the dry roast finish.

From a bottle. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Tastes like bitter coffee, burnt toast, with some strong, tangy yeast flavor. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like a nutty, roasted coffee.

1pintatatime (87) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 21, 2014
Pours nearly black with a thin heat that quickly dissipates. No real aroma to speak of. Flavor is initially sweet (but not too sweet) with a rich toasted malt backbone. Hints of black licorice, very dark chocolate, and burnt toast. Finish is reasonably dry. Not terribly complex but what’s there is quite good.

hotstuff (4303) - Indiana, USA - MAR 17, 2014
Rated on 7-31-2010 - This bottled beer has a large creamy, smooth tan head that mostly diminishes, opaque body, suspended carbonation, and one ring of lacing. This beer has a roasted malt, chocolate. The palate is very creamy, watery and thin. Overall, this is a quaffable stout, but for the style it has a thin texture.
