cgarvieuk (2302), Edinburgh, Scotland Jul 12, 2008 Bottle at home with Doppelganger ... Deep brown ... light woody sour nose ... less woody and sour than many (and thus more ot my taste) little malt vinegar ... little balsamic vinegar... good depth ... im really enjoying this.
KimJohansen (3026), Copenhagen V, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 Hazy red dark amber with medium beige head. Sourish aroma with berries and woody notes. Sour flavor with mild barnyard, wood, berries and malty Notes. Ends sour. mybestfriend (250), Gothenburg, Sweden Jul 21, 2008 75 cl bottle. Pours a brownish colour with an off-white head. The aroma is full of (red ) berries - redcurrants and unripe raspberries - together with some oak and overripe fruit. I also got some overripe apples together with the oaky vanilla which together made me think of apple-pie. The flavour is sourish (not overly sout though) - with notes of both unripe and overripe red berries. You can feel the tannins. More odd than nice. Doppelganger (1112), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Jul 17, 2008 Bottle, at cgarvieuk’s, with Stella, the kids, and Traci. Really great tasting Craig—thanks! Deep brown, fine off-white head. Just a pinch of brown sugar, rustic cold sea tide pool. Fine textured gentle sourness, plums earth, apples, pepper, autumn leaves. Lingering fruity lemon. Refreshing, moorish, really well-balances and delicious beer. Nice place to have started our tasting. Stew41 (859), Caulfield, Australia May 31, 2008 I’m nearly certain this is the best sour / lambic style of beer I have tried from outside of Belgium. Pours a clear caramel brown, not quite what I would have expected. Aromas are mild but clearly show some sour tangy character. Sour flavour is harder in the mouth but the intenseness is more on the bitter side rather than an out-and-out citric acidity. I think I would have preferred a touch more intensity but regardless a very well made beer and a good interpretation of the style.
