COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Note: Says "Riserva" on label and has a red seal. Vintages begin from 2008.

Just like the Barriquée, the Riserva is ‘triple-fermented.’ Primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel. What sets the Riserva apart is the next step: 15-18 months spent in wine wooden vats, compared to the Barriquée’s 8-10 months; the wooden vats were used previously for Barbera (red wine), for maybe 150 years.
This adds an elegant wine-like quality and a dry, oaky character to the deep, earthy, sourness that the Barriquée is known for.

Bomber share thanks to Matt. Appearance: finger tan head, brownish amber color, light cloudy, no lace. Aroma: prune, earthy bitterness, leather, light oak. Palate: light body, soft carbonation, dry finish. Taste: soft malty start, light to medium tartness through finish. Overall, not my favorite sour, the balance is too heavy towards maltiness and not tart enough for me.

2008, Batch #10 Bottle 93 Cherry brown with etched light tan foam. Smells like stilton cheese, oak, some pie cherry, really not taking much on the nose here personally. As it warms, it kinda reminds me of cherry jolly rancher smell. Flavor is lightly tart with rich acetic character, lightly sweet and a good bit of oak. Thin with light, ticklish carb and a dry finish. Overall the beer is really drinkable, as it warms, it is really inviting as a beverage, makes me wish I were sitting in a lush leather chair at fireside.

2010 bottle from Matt. Thanks! A: Dark mahogany with a cascading creme head. N: Oak, acetone, grape, dark cherry, vinegar, and raspbery. Very vinous. T: Minor sourness with a lot of vinous hints. Nice sweetness here, too. M: Light and nimble. Good carbonation and easy to drink. O: A very interesting take on the style. Has a lot in common with wine. Tasty.

Pours a deep red colors with big off white head. Aroma is big on the sour and mild funkiness. Flavor is sour cherry, some vinegar notes, smooth and fairly mild. Not overly tart and sour but still nice....very tasty.

Bottle... Poured reddish/amber with a mode are off-white head. Vinous, wine-like tones added depth and complexity. Wood-like characters with a lots of yeast spice ranging from musky funk to a mildly acidic sourness. Other fruits like stone fruit and cherries before a drying finish.

Grazie a Caterina per questa rarità! Rispetto alla Sour questa è più complessa, peccato per una ossidazione eccessiva che la rovina un po

Bottle at phillybeerscene tasting. Aroma is tart with cherry and cranberry. Pours pink peach with murkiness and a small head. The taste is amazingly sour and tart with a great sour cranberry and SweetTarts taste. I was blown away by this one. Somebody want to get me a bottle?

Bottle at Sourfest. Amber pour with a creamy white head. Slightly sweet oaky, musty aroma, earthy, notes of vinegar and grape. Flavor are similar and palate is smooth, mellow with a dry finish. Not too shabby.
