Pours a cloudy brownish red with very little head. Aroma is sour grape tartness. Flavor is sour, vinegar, tart, fruit, spices. Pretty nice sour. FunkyBrewster (436), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 23, 2008 2006. Almost no head. Nice pungent sour grape/apple aroma. Flavor was just as potent and most pleasantly tart. A little bit of sweet spice came through in the start but the finish was deliciously sour. Very complex and a great sour ale to share with friends. Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 17, 2008 Snitched this from the cooler at Cap. Ale - Innsbrook for my 25th B-day. 2006 bottle. Zero head with a nice clear mahogony body. Great sour aroma, apples, grass with some wet horse blanket. Taste is very similar, with a bit more tartness showing up... lovely. Ending is like a good apple cider, nice and tart. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA May 12, 2008 Bottle at Paul’s Hoboken Gathering: Hazy amber pour with a tan head. Nice fruity aroma with raspberries, chocolate, passion fruit, mild tart notes. Nice body with an elegant flavor. Tart raspberry flavors, along with subtle white chocolate (but not too sweet) and a light oak presence. Smooth, balanced and complex. minch25 (346), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 9, 2008 2006. Purplish red eggplant color, no head to speak of. Grape juice aroma. Dry, mellow feel. Flavor: more grape juice, sour, woodsy notes, tannic. As far as beers go, this is comparable to drinking a light pinot noir or beaujolais. Starting to notice some applesauce/cinnamon in the aroma. Turns out to be quite drinkable. Prickly sensation reminds me that this is actually a beer. Actually, I’m liking this more as I’m drinking it, way more than I probably should. A purely hedonistic beer (fair or not) that just leaves you really wishing for more. travita (1851), Frisco, Texas, USA May 6, 2008 2007. Nice tan head with reddish to brown color and clear. Sour, tart, fruity, wood, bretty, in the smell. Taste has oak, fruit, tartiness. Nice sour finish. Good beer, I enjoyed it.
