aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA Mar 23, 2008 Dark ruddy brown with a thin dissipating head. Nose of acidic over ripe dark fruit with mild metallic notes. Soft and somewhat Bloody on the palate with lots of Balsamic notes. dmac (1420), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Mar 21, 2008 750 ml bottle purchased at Oak Tree. Pours a clear deep dark brown/ruby with a small off white bubbly head. Aroma if funktastic, lots of sour funk, oak, vinegar, sour cherries, earthiness. Palate is rather thin with a watery feel and very light carbonation, no aftertaste to mention at all. Flavor starts off with some vinegar acidity, slight sour notes and finishese with earth notes. Although this beer is nice it’s definitely not a 4.0 beer......ever. johnadam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA Mar 20, 2008 Poured red with a fluffy off white head. Aroma of sour apples. Sweet malt to start which slowly mellowed into a sour fruit finish. Crisp. Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Mar 17, 2008 750 ml bottle. Dark brown copper colour. Throws a tall off-white head that clings to the glass. Acidic nose with hints of rich malts. Mellow dry flavours. Much the same goes for the texture. Not too acidic. but there is quite a lot of it. Still there is a lot of acidity balancing the rich dark malts. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Mar 11, 2008 2-24-08 bottle (2007) shared at tasting - blind.
Ruby red in color with little head that is short lived. Very subtle sweet vinegar smell that is really hard to pick up on. Taste is muted and has no funk. Flavor is quite similar to green apples with a splash of cider vinegar. Mouthfeel is not great - just average.

Brown red amber pour with no head. Smell of sweet alcohol. Tastes like apples juice. Mouthfeel is crap - strange off carbonation. Not very enjoyable at all and a hint too boozy for me.
Brown ruby red color lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA Mar 10, 2008 Pours cloudy mahogany with quickly disapearing grayish head. Aroma of sour dark fruits. Flavor is nicely sour, but not too sour, with a nice yeasty mustiness in the background along with some citrus and berry. Not too sweet, which is also quite nice. DenverLogan (421), MileHi, Colorado, USA Mar 9, 2008 Batch 8 #07. Copper/ruby color; creamy head on side, bigger bubbles in the middle. Big funky sour aroma of prunes, plums, apricots, berries, citrus. Rich flavors of citrus, reapberries, black berries, funky dry oak finish with sour tart notes. Always a treat! porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA Mar 8, 2008 (750 ml bottle (2006) from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/portland/downeast-beverage-co/974.htm target=blank>Downeast Beverage Co., cellared for 11 mos. after purchase) Oaky smooth and tart...Pours somewhat murky coppery reddish-brown. Small biege head kind of fizzes away to a thin covering. Aroma is sour and tart with oak sweetness. Mouthfeel is smooth and medium-full (thankfully not dry). Smoothness is kind of comforting and balances any harshness from the sour flavor. Some very light sheets of lacing disappear quickly. Light syrupy film coats inside of snifter. The taste is quite tart and sour but definitely not overboard. Fruity tart undertones, sort of cherry-like. Nice sweet oaky wood presence that emerges more as it warms and blends with a bit of toffee. Tart aftertaste. Very nice beer that I may have actually enjoyed more than NB LaFolie although this may be a slight notch below overall.
