rayg1 (433), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA Jul 23, 2007 750 ml. bottle, 2005 vintage. This beer pours out a nice reddish amber color with a white fizzy head that lasts and lasts. Aroma is very tart up front with funky bacteria blasting the nostrils, then a fruitiness of sour cherries and oak. The taste adds another dynamic to the puckering sourness and tart cherries, I can really taste the oak now but its mellow enough to be quite nice. A spicy almost peperiness hits the tounge. Then a dash of alcohol and cognac flavor hit at once. The finish ends with a light heat of alcohol in the last sip with the sourness trailing off with it. Excellent beer and would gladly have again. Indra (2023), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jul 21, 2007 750 ml bottle, 2005 vintage. Virtually astounding aroma, complex and nearly confounding, with a blend of elements including oak, red grape, tart black cherry, blood orange, leather, faint malt vinegar, cider, earthiness, some herbal, leafy tones oddly reminscent of dill, bay leaf and tea, perhaps some faint chamomile and licorice. Deep, dark garnet color, clear, with a mostly lasting, uneven, bubbly head and traces of lacing. Flavor virtually explodes upon the palate with tartness and dark fruitiness, further aged wood and vinous, acetic tones throughout, with a lightly puckering sourness, faintly spicy, peppery alcohol and a drying effect on the palate. Body is medium, and seems to be quite well-proportioned. Possesses an almost unbelievable amount of character, even for the style. csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jul 21, 2007 Updated: Dec 28, 20072005 Bottle. Thanks Indra! Red color light khaki head. Aroma is wonderful; wood, acetic acid, red wine vinegar, vanilla, lemon, mild spice. Initial taste is lush red grapes, wood, lemon followed by red wine vinegar, tart cherries, vanilla, and oak tannins. Braceingly tart and acidic, but drinkable.
2006 Very nice, but noticeably less sour. Very drinkable. larsga (2937), Oslo, Norway Jul 20, 2007 Huge offwhite head shrinks quickly. Hazy reddish brown body. Light metallic barnyard aroma with peppery wooden notes. Sweetish acidic wooden watery roasty taste with grape and metal notes. Intense, sharp mouthfeel, but not too sharp. Metallic, dry aftertaste. Nice, even if very challenging. (0.75l bottle, thanks to Knut Albert.) thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Jul 18, 2007 Pour is a very cloudy brown with no head. Aroma is cherry and oak with some earthyness. Flavor is very wine like with a tart pucker. Some oak and wood smoke come out in the flavor but its the aourness that comes out and is the predominate characteristic. Good to try and sip on slowly to find all the subtle flavors. xmarcnolanx (789), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Jul 17, 2007 Updated: Apr 17, 2009A very decent sour. Very mild, which for me, is very good in terms of sours. Aroma of lacto, horseys, et cetera. Taste is of sweet tarts. Just very straightforward and mild. Decent

This 2005 batch consumed early 2009.
Aroma is balsemic, lactic, oaky, and sweet, rich, red-bright maltiness.
Some red apple and more sourness.
Pour is still, with amber-slick color.
Taste is sweet malt, some balsemic overtones, lactic sourness, oak, and an overall sharpness. Cheese, funk, and chocolate.
Finish is still a bit slick, but biting and puckering.
Very Solid.
847416 Guerde (696), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Jul 16, 2007 bottle- Thanks Akevitt)Poured a muddy brown with a white head. Aroma was mainly of tart cherry and some green apple. Flavor was also fairly sour with green apple, but not quite as sour as I would have liked. There was also some oak on the finish. OSLO (825), Perth, Australia Jul 16, 2007 [Bottle, thanks Akevitt] Pours reddish brown with a medium white head. Nice aroma--fruity and sour. Taste was not as sour as I had expected it to be, but still was very smooth and nice. A decent beer for sure, but not my favorite flemish sour.
