OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Apr 9, 2006 750ml bottle via my Christmas in July Secret Santa - Thanks Mullman! - Pours deep copper in color with a short creamy tan head that didn’t stay too long. Aromas of sour cherries, bannana, and just a touch of vinegar. Flavor is an interesting blend of sour cherries, caramel malts, chocolate, roasted malts, and a touch of vinegar. Also some raisin, and some definite oak flavor in there as well. Palate seems almost buttery and soft. Carbonated pretty well but not overly so. Quite a complex and interesting brew. kujo9 (1077), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Apr 7, 2006 Big thanks to Kramer17801 for this one in a trade! 750 ml bottle: Orangey/reddish copper w/ a short lived off white head. Initial aroma out of the bottle is sour, over ripe, bananas, as well as brett and catty aromas. Oak barrel aging is apparent but not overwhelming. Some earthy and band aid plastic notes as well. Lighlty toasty malt and a hint of caramel work their way in as it warms as well as a bit of sour cherries for some reason. Starts off sour and finishes tart. Toasty malt balances well to keep it from being mouth puckeringly sour. Earthy hop notes with toasted malt and a bit of a vinegary finish & aftertaste. Woody notes in the mid palate as well as well as a bit of alcohol with some hints of sour raisins & cherries. Medium carbonation, lighter medium body, well hidden alcohol in the mouth. Fairly smooth. Sour beers are still not my "cup of tea" but it’s not overwhelmingly sour and might be a good summertime refresher. ratman197 (3137), Arvada, Colorado, USA Apr 4, 2006 750 ml bottle 2005 vintage poured a cloudy dark garnet with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of sour cherries, dirty socks, oak, a bit of vinegar, and cork. Palate was light bodied and tart. Flavors of sour fruit[mild cherry character], oak, some vinegar notes, and cork with a sour, dry finish. A VERY tasty beer!!! shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Mar 25, 2006 Deep purple color with a diminishing white bubbly, creamy head. Sour fruit aroma. Dark cherries, raspberries, sour candy. well carbonated. Delicious. eboats (887), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Mar 25, 2006 Rose colored bottom that fades to dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is sour and like a burnt vacuum. Flavor is fruity, and power sour. Such sour and tartness that this beer owns your face harder than hard. dhlesq (233), Thousand Oaks, California, USA Mar 22, 2006 Aroma of oak, cork, cavendish, dark cherries, some vinegar. Appears a hazy, ruddy, brown-red, with an unhealthy looking filmy white head, that I know is as it should be. Flavor is intensely sour at the start but still quite drinkable, with a slightly sweet base beer coming through in the middle, and with a finish of lemon and oak. Palate is crisp and dry. Overall, this beer is truly a wonderful experience, and one that I would not have had if not for discovering Ratebeer. Truly a wonderful experience. Siroy (220), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 19, 2006 A fully diminishing small fizzy head tops up a murky dark mahogany body. Moderate lacing. No particles. Few bubbles. Aroma presents malt being medium caramel and hay while hops are moderate and undefinable. Yeast character is heavy fruitiness. Also, there are evident evocations of vinegar, sour cherries/red fruits. Hint of vanilla. Initial flavor is lighty acetic while development is moderate sour. Finish is long . medium to full body... creamy texture... Lively carbonation...
