COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(Editor’s note) Originally this version was available for the American market, while in Europe a version less sour was available; as of today, only this version of Sour is produced, so if you got a recent vintage you had this one.
The Sour has a sticker to differenciate it from the sticker-less Barriquée Mild, which has not been inoculated with lactobacillus bacteria.

Appearance: medium clear reddish brown, with a short, tan head and little lacing or legs. Aroma: apple cider vinegar, with notes of raspberry and raisin, some white wine (?) or sour milk. Taste: tart cherry, a sour lactic tang, and sweet caramel malts, with a healthy dose of funk. Finish: finishes woody, dry, and a little pucker-y. Notes: Only my second or third sour, and had it only a couple days after the Rodenbach Grand Cru, which was clearly superior. This seemed rough around the edges by comparison. Batch #11 from 2009, bottle 132. From the Rare Beer Club.

Bottle shared by Caesar, hazy reddish color, virtually no head. Smell and taste sourish, unripe fruits. For me it’s a bit I too I sour, but it’s a nice beer.

750ml bottle, 2012, Batch #15, Bottle #813. Pours almost opaque reddish brown with a thick, foamy, off-white head. Aroma is tart, bright, woody cherries with noticeable funkiness. Taste is tart cherry skins, oak, wood and tannins and is earthy, citric, vinous and funky. Bright and tart on the palate, fairly sour, really nice carbonation. Great finish. Perfectly balanced; every aspect of this beer is standout. Just terrific.
