Cloudy amber. No head. Fruity sour aroma. Medium body. Flavor is fruity, malty, wood, with some decent sour coming through. The finish is a sour fruity dryness. A very good sour.

Pours a ruddy red/deep coppery with a small amount of loose beige foam that quickly disappears to a tiny ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass. Sharp green apple and musty grape aromas with some light funk. Flavor is lactic sharp/tart with a definite vinous fruity quality accompanied by woody elements before finishing tart w/ green apple/grape skin, nice and dry. Moderate body and slightly under carbed.

2007, 750ml bottle at SD Toronado and at a pretty good price. Outstanding sour. Shows the barrel aging with the texture and hints of vanilla. Dark cola color. Refreshing brew, bring acidity and citrus aromas. Dosn’t taste like it looks. Kind of approaches a Lou Pepe but not quite. Would recommend this to sour beer drinkers and the best Italian brew I’ve ever had!

Bottle. Pours a cloudy reddish brown color with a small tan head. Aroma of wood , sour cherries, and balsamic vinegar. Flavor is like a lighter La Folie. Oak, sour cherries, and a slight sweet alcohol flavor are what I get out of it. Very nice. The only negative I can say about it, is that it seemed a little watery at the finish. Otherwise a very tasty sour. Unfortunately the high price will probably keep me from purchasing again.

I expected a lot from this ale but was a little dissapointed. Good sourness at first but fades too quickly. overall pretty good but I wanted the tartness to linger longer

Awesome. Pours a brownish rust color with a reddish hue and an off-white head. Aroma is sour, apple, oak, and "aged" funk. Taste is sour, apple, raisin, rum, and other beer aroma similar to the ones found in the "brett" varieties. Palate: plenty of carbonation adds to the complexity and bitterness. Finishes dry and aromatic, nice!

CapnCascade (116) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 14, 2008
Deep hazy ruby pour, rich white head with good retention and lacing. Woody aroma with berry notes suggest a profound sourness to come, and so it does! Flavor reprises the dark berries, balanced with a decided sourness. Finish is noticeably woody with a lingering acidity and sourness. Medium body with good carbo. Yum!

Almost a hazy garnet in color. Has the distinct lambicish nose of wet horse blanket, ust not as intese as Cantillion, but good still. Rich and mouthfilling, very complex, tart but balanced with just enough sweet malts. I like this beer alot. Very winey mouthfeel, world class beer!

Pours a hazy reddish-brown nice head and little lacing. Fruity aroma of sour cherries with pleasant sourness, a tiny bit of oak. Taste is fruity, cherries, abit of berries, some lacto, little caramel sweetness (really just a bit), oak, vinious presence. Medium-low mouthfeel with good carbonation. Very surprised by this one. I might buy a few more next time i go to ontario.

Thanks go to DougShoemaker for the chance to sample this delightful beer. Sour version from the 2005 vintage. Mahogany colour with amber highlights, topped by a finely-beaded head that collapses to a lasting ring around the edge of the glass leaving good lacing. Woody and fruity aroma has nice depth. There is a whiff of mustiness, with enigmatic notes of orange zest and preserved lemons underneath the more prominent sour cherry and oak. Soft, almost creamy, fruitiness up front with flavours of cherries and currants. Beautifully tart and dry finish that hits the back of the throat and lingers on the palate. A refined and contemplative beer that envelops you in its subtle and understated complexity.
