3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to JohnC for sharing his bottle. Ruddy brown brew sitting under a cream colored head. Some slight cherry notes along with a oakiness that seems to hold things in check. A really nice brew but my favorite in this style is still Speciaal Brouwsel.

I thought this one was a decent sour red, but it wasn’t a favorite in the style for me. Just an okay offering overall.

Bottle split at Mother Arch during the 2014 Zwanze Celebrations, big thanks to Scopester, Batch 11 2009 #1548, 20/09/14.
Murky chestnut brown with moderate off white spotting and edgework.

Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a subtle acidic wash.
Ok mellow sour, not a huge amount of complexity but easy drinking.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
traditional Flemish aged for 3 months in cognac barrels?! nice. just a touch of wood, sweet and pepper from the barreling. otherwise very traditional sweet and sour. very sour when it first hits the mouth, but not so much during or after. i thought this one was quite good and on the back end of the better sours out there. about to have a Red Poppy and Framboise to get some perspective!!!"
