COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(Editor’s note) Originally this version was available for the American market, while in Europe a version less sour was available; as of today, only this version of Sour is produced, so if you got a recent vintage you had this one.
The Sour has a sticker to differenciate it from the sticker-less Barriquée Mild, which has not been inoculated with lactobacillus bacteria.

Batch 15. Dark red-brown body. Large fluffy off-white head. Sticky lacing. Nose is musty oak, lemon, light cherries, invigorating. Flavor is a bit richer, with a bolder vinous character complementing the citric acidity, cherries, oak, and light must. Medium to light bodied, smooth carbonation, nice refreshing acidity in the finish, lightly sour. Pairs wonderfully with prosciutto.

Their best beer, an oud bruin in the flemish tradition, very tart and lactic with a complex taste and a touch of caramel, but no residual sweetness and a tartness by the red wine oak barrels.

Ruddy brown pour, nice offwhite head. Aroma is tart with notes of barnyard and coconut. Flavor is tart and fruity. Good, but not as complex as I’d expect from such a high rated sour.

Bouteille 750ml, gracieuseté de wilco. Thanks Mike! Couleur rougeâtre semi-opaque, mousse beige foncée crémeuse présentant de fines bulles. Arôme vineux, boisé, levures sauvages, fruits rouges. Goût de vin rouge, boisé, acidité moyenne-faible, alcool, vinaigre balsamique, malt, un peu sucré. Carbonatation moyenne-élevée, corps moyen.

Appearance: Dark chestnut red. Very fizzy start, calms down later with nice off-white head. Aroma: Fruit, earthy. Slight sourness. Taste: Lots of fruit and berries. Wood? Sourness, but not too bad, actually. Pleasant surprise to me. Info: 750ml bottle, 29/3-2014, 56/100, BB: 30/4-2014
