Cloudy pale yellow/gold. 2cm of dense, fresh powder snow white top. Aroma of hearty wheat and barley malt, light twang, subtle spice, bread crust, and lightly zesty yeast. Same flavor on the grains, more spice, some light fruits, less twang, same bready elements and yeast zest. Medium body is softly carbonated for a wit, balanced, easy to drink. From notes.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7062) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 27, 2009
Bottle, April 2008 tasting. Very cloudy appearance - obviously I’d expect a Belgian style Wit to be hazy but this was more sludgy. Despite Phil L’s protestations, I didn’t really find anything to suggest that this was over the hill. I would probably expect more spice and less farmyard funk from a Wit, but funk isn’t a problem for me (even if it is not supposed to be there). Not as arresting or distinctive as some of Panil’s other offerings but interesting, and certainly not unpleasant, nonetheless.
