UPDATED: JAN 4, 2008 Bottle (very nice one). Hazy deep golden with a medium fluffy white head. Tropical fruits starts off the aroma and is followed by dusty yeasty notes and citric hops. Medium bodied and smooth. Good balance with a light bitterness. Reminds me a bit of Saison Dupont.

(Bottle, 1 year old) Pours hazy, glowing golden with medium white head. The aroma has a nice white wine and honey-like fruitiness of sweet pears, sticky pineapples, tart apricots, oranges, green apples and lemons - from sweet to sour. Some candi sugar is also notable. Bit woody. The nose is fresh grassy, spicy and floral/ nectar-ish with some dusty, moldy, doughy and barnyardy yeast in the background. The malt profile has a slim cracker, hay and caramelly sting. A touch of phenols is also present. An yes, it is a bit alcohol-ish. The flavour is dryish with tones of wood, dust, bandage, citrus, (lemon and bitter oranges), green apples and grassy/spicy hops. Light sweet/rater dry. LIght to medium bitter. The mouthfeel is light tart, clean and soft/creamy carbonated. Medium bodied.

75 cl bottle. Deep golden colour with a frothy head that turned minimal. Complex fruity aroma, mostly oranges, some sourness and wood, even a hint of cheese? Flavours don’t disappoint- farmyard and cheesy notes blending with orange fruit. Soft. A treat from Panil.

Bottle, courtesy of Lorenzo @ ZBF 2005. Hazy gold, thin white head and gentle condition. Long wheaty, phenolic and barnyard-shitty in the nose, soft in the mouth with fruity sweetness mixing well with phenols, a wild funkiness and some odd yeast notes. Finish was sweet and wheaty with some lingering lambic type fustiness.

My Bottom Line:
This fluffy Belgian-style Strong Ale seduces with its starfruit citrus, bready yeast and comfortably effervescent mouthfeel, creating a marvelously classy sipper.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thick sheet of foam paints fine lacing atop the cloudy beige blond.
-The superbly integrated fruitiness is also reminiscent of gooseberries and apple skins.
-Alcohol is really not apparent.
-The flavor profile is perfectly balanced and the finish nicely dry.
-A little more cereal character and this would be world-class, imho.
-The hop personality is not as outgoing in the flavor profile as it is in the aroma.

Bottle.

Cloudy, beautiful light golden ale. Delicate 1cm white cover. The nose is floral more than anything and freshly so, though not failing to display even more vinous notes than your average Panil. Belgianesque in mouth. Generous cleansing carbonation. Nice hops bite. I must say it is not THAT flavourful, but just very pleasant to drink. Grainy, sunflower seeds reminiscent concoctions with sesame grains undertones. Just well distributed flavours really.

Hazy deep yellow, golden colour with a white head. Malty, fruity and light tart aroma with spicy and vague alcohol sweet notes. Malty, light caramel sweet flavor with fruity and spicy notes.
