bigbeersrule (52), USA Sep 15, 2004 Another winner from Papago. Not like your normal wheat beer. This one is a hopheads delight. Six different hops in it and they even have the beer run through fresh hops right before serving. MartinT (4377), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 18, 2004 Creamy, grapefruit C-hops are emboldened by confident pears…Pilsnerish bitter hay accompanies the hop bitterness adequately into the finish…A somewhat malnourished body can still carry loads of interesting qualities… beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Jun 3, 2004 On-tap at the brewpub: After finally deciding after much discussion with the Staff and Gusler, I decided to start the evening with this brew. It was still early evening and pretty hot at the time and I didn’t want to start off with the heavy stuff. But just after I ordered it I then saw the 7.6%. Whoa nelly, here we go!
Color is a clear bright slightly pale gold, nice firm white head thats small and compact, lacing in sheets the whole way down. Aroma is wheaty sweet, sticky, buttery, crisp, with a nudge of mild floral hops underneath. Taste is all malts, and a wonderful supply of them, nice sticky sweetness of wheat and chewy malts that has unique crispness at the edge of every sip. Quite tasty. Hops add some floral spice nearer the finish but more sweetness wipes the palate clean before the finish drips away clean and malty. Feel is nearly full, well rounded and super clean and lightly buttery smooth, with an edgy zip of hops in the middling finish and ends overall dully sweet and fruity. Gone in no time and making another choice was soon to be had as this was an amazingly fine wheat ale to consume. Very well crafted and super yummy. argo0 (6231), Washington DC, USA May 21, 2004 Clear golden body with white head. Aroma is sweet, honey, some wheat. Taste is sweet, wheat, some herbal bitterness, finishing sweet alcohol. Medium-full, some sticky. Not as "heavy" as I2PAs, but the refreshing quality that a wheat should have is missing as a result of the "Imperial"-ness. Brodie (540), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA May 21, 2004 Nice American hop aroma, lots of citrus and piney notes. Flavor is sweet, lots of malt and wheat flavor, with a nice mix of hops and alcohol in there. Pretty full-bodied. Far from your typical American wheat beer, more like an IPA that happens to have wheat in it.
