21iceman40 (1671), north little rock, Arkansas, USA Mar 24, 2008 I really liked this fine scotch ale. Very thick and dark. Lots of depth to the aroma, very thick malts. The body was very big, solid and layered. It seems like the blended alot of dark caramel like malts together and got a solid end product. Very nice scotch.
bu11zeye (3780), Frisco, Texas, USA Apr 3, 2008 (Draught) Pours a dark brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of smoked sausage, pizza sauce, grilled bell peppers (not eating pizza with this…), caramel, and toffee. Flavor of cherry, caramel, wood, and dark fruit with a dry finish. Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Oct 28, 2007 The beer fresh from the tap appears a deep brown to almost black, the head a creamy light tan that piles high on the body, solid sheet of lace to cover the glass. Nose has a sweet malt aroma up front; hints of smoke and toasted grain, nice hop flowery tone at the back. Start has a pleasing malt profile; sweet with a definite hop spiciness at the back, top is moderate to almost full. Finish has a perfect acidity, the hops evident, with the smokey malt sticking to the palate like glue, dry aftertaste, a nice representative to the style, as I said in a recent review Scottish Ales of any type getting hard to find. Bockyhorsey (2033), Mesa, Arizona, USA Oct 22, 2007 Tap @ Papago. Fruity nose along with some sweet malt for aroma. Dark body with decent head. Fruit is dominate flavor but has a good malted sweeter for w well balaance beer. Sticky fruit lingers on the palate a good brew. hellbilly (909), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Oct 21, 2007 tap @ the pub...thought i’d be the first to get this in, but...pours a dark mahogany with a fluffy off white head. aromas of fresh berries, wood and dark caramel malt. flavor is fruity again with wood, earth and toffee. finishes with a nice bitter dryness from the hops. medium to full bodied and quite creamy. alcohol creeps up as it starts to warm.not overly sweet as many of these tend to be.
