Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Hazy yellow body with large head. Malty nose. Nice hoppy taste with lots of citrus. Also fruity and spicy. Quite enjoyable. Pleasantly surprised.

Etiket: naar een recept van A. Verstraete en J. Vandenhove; te consumeren naar godsvrucht en vermogen, maar altijd met mate. Prima bier, waar de bedenkers met recht hun naam op durven zetten. 8,0%.

Bottle 33cl. Hazy yellow gold with a sturdy white top that fades somewhat. Aroma has malts and a spicy hint I can’t recognize. The taste develops beautifully: a mild sweetness at first develops into bitterness and leaves you with a spicy, metallic aftertaste which is quite pleasant surprisingly.

Bottle. Appearance: unfiltered apple juice, lasting foam head. Fruity aroma: mostly pear, apples, hint of pepper and nutmeg, hint of basement funk. Not bad. Sour taste with a sweet lacing. Sour: apple, sour white grape, hint of hairspray / turpentine. Sweet: apple pulp, pear, hint of yeast / cheese. This beer should definitely be paired with food: it has all the qualities to accentuate, rather than dominate the palate. This would go well with a salad with (goat / white) cheese, walnuts and / or radicchio, radish.

Interessant bier.

Deep hazy honey and bronzed coloured body with a thinnish, relatively fast-dying tan head, about a centimetre tall. Bottle sort of exploded a bit when opened, at age ~17months. Aroma of honey, yeast, corn, alcohol, caramel, toffee, light fruits and a nice rich malt note - pungent and nice. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep malty and caramel sweetness up front with a strong yeast and deep curacao flavour showing on the tail end - strong, but showing nicely. Aftertaste has a robust complexity with the sweetness primary and the rich maltiness and yeast pungency right behind. Overall, a nice belgie with some solid flavours and a deep full-flavoured finish. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Delices et Caprices in Bruxelles, Belgium on 19-August-2013 for €2,20 sampled at home in Washington, two days before leaving to head back to Belgium for more beer!
