boFNjackson (512), Portland, Oregon, USA May 1, 2007 Tap... Poured an unfiltered dark orange color with little to no head. Faint aroma, spicy, malty. Dry palate with flavors of hops and malt that are balanced by grainy yeast flavors and lemon citrus fruits. Sorta of an odd flavor for IPA, reminded me more of American Wheats like Harpoon’s UFO or Widmer’s. I enjoyed it, but for the style I’d prefer something else. Lubiere (3256), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Dec 14, 2006 An hazzy orange reddish amber with a thin big bubbled head. Aroma of boiled vegetables, almsot like rotten garbage. In mouth, the hops and sourness makes it almost undrinkable. From the other ratings, this isnt great when its fresh...the bottle is around 9 months old. Oh well...drain pour. Hopistotle420 (1177), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA Jan 13, 2006 12 oz bottle from Spirit Haus: Pours a nice honey orange amber. Small dissipating white head. Fruity nose, Im catching blueberry, cherry, apple, apricot...but mostly musk melon. Where are the malts? Dirty sweet, herbal hop water, grass, lemon, grapefruit. Not very exciting at all. cfranz (261), Acton, Massachusetts, USA Jan 3, 2006 Pours hazy orange with no head. Smells like juice. Wierd grassy aftertaste - fruity and sour. Kind of herbal, but not really sure what kind of herbs; maybe wild herbs growing on the side of the highway. Just a wierd beer. ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Nov 22, 2005 2005 bottle from Julio’s consumed on 11/21/05. Near opaque, heavily sedimented, ripe-peach/orange with some dull coppers and a light strawberry blonde hue when held to the light. Small off-white head very quickly recedes to cover and then just a ring. Aroma of fruit juice - apple, cherry, peach. Not sure which English variety of hop this is. Almost a deep blueberry note as well. I find little/no malt in the nose. And the flavor explains why. Woops!! We forgot to extract the malt! Almost can pass for just a bone dry example, but not quite. And an example of what?? There’s little hop flavor. Leafy, shrubby, slightly herbal notes. Little to no yeast apparency. No malt sweetness at all. Not even light honey. Just a bit of light grapefruit hanging in back. Very much full of water. Extremely light bodied. Weak hop tea with some biscuit malt steeping in it, more or less. Carbonation adds a touch of bite, but quickly succumbs to the vapid body. Mouthfeel ends watery, though is probably the high point of the beer. Off to the drain ya go!
