Pours with a black body and a thick tan creamy head with lots of lace. Smokey malt aroma with a strange background. The background smells sadly like stale cigerette ash. Smokey malt flavor with good coffee notes. Much better than the aroma. Smokey bitter finish. Full Bodied, slightly dry and relatively smooth.

Has a very dark brown color and a roasted smell. Taste is similar to the smell and finishes mildly bitter. Overall not a bad stout, not my favorite, but not bad.

Minimal head, very little aroma and a slightly smoked flavour. A fairly good stout but not as good as the Irish stouts.

Nice dark pour, no head to speak of. Very light roasted aroma. Very thin taste, seemed very watery to me.

Almost an inky, purple-black in colour. Smooth and creamy at first, followed by a nice roasted finish that lasts for some time.

VENOM (941) - Connecticut, USA - APR 8, 2002
Best before date - 1/31/02. Semi-opaque dark mahogany with a thin but sticky light tan head. Moderate carbonation. Aroma of cardboard, dry roasted malts and some light chocolate. Rather full bodied (or fuller) for a dry stout. Dry roasted malt flavor, slightly oxidized. Tangy aftertaste, lightly woody. Roasted barley notes as well. Finishes dry, chocolatey and peanutty. Very decent dry stout, even for one beyond the date.

Just to thin on the palate. It’s got a good roasted aroma, but it tastes a bit too coffee-ish. Too watery.

Has a good flavor, nothing spectacular though. A good stout needs to be thicker than this.

Very typical stout. Black, roast, little bit of hop, coffee. Seen this before.

Very black color; Head consisted of the rim bubbles only; Good black patent malt aromas. Thin on the tongue. No compexity. Some decent roasted flavors with the requisite bitterness. A disappointing stout. Gus, were you a bit tipsy when you wrote that one? :)
