muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jul 19, 2004 Sample at the Vermont Brewers Fest. Big lime nose...not lemon, not banana or orange, but lime; just a hint of lemon and apple. Rather odd. Light yeastiness in the body, creamy, sweet and soda-like. Interesting for sure, but just ok as something to drink. ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Aug 1, 2005 2005 bottle. Color is a brass to deep urine, with a deeply faded, lime-green tint. Good amount of sediment at the bottom. Large off-white head is well-retained. Massive amounts of small bubbles make their way to the surface, providing an aroma of soft grassiness, lemon and coriander. A light creamy sweet malt in the background as well. Flavor begins with a big herbal note of coriander, with some lemon and light white pepper perhaps. Some soft, fluffy yeast and a light, moist honey-whitebread maltiness. Light, pleasing acidity, very zesty bubbles for texture. Some citrus tones linger on the tongue nicely. Honey and some faint caramel. The spices (probably the pepper?) create a slight numbing effect on the tongue. Not watery at all with a strong linger flavor that coats the palate well. Spritzy at times. The bottle makes no indication that this is a Belgian Wit. Not to say that it is not, (and if it is, it’s not to style at all). But I don’t get the feeling that it was made to any particular style. Probably just a hybrid, refreshing, spiced summer ale. Volgon (2462), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jul 6, 2004 Cloudy orange, with a thin white head. Orange peel and various spices in the aroma, low carbonation medium bodied. Ends with some sweet fruits. dirtymike (2019), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Aug 14, 2004 Light golden and hazy in color with a small white head. Aroma is of ginger, corriander and orange with a subtle wheat tang character. Flavors of fruit and spice donimate with some wheat malt in the background. Schroppfy (1733), Ohio, USA Aug 4, 2004 Strange sweet fruits, indeed, Volgon, and Muzzle is dad on with the lime. Whew, this is a weird one. I wanted it to be heftier. Very carbonated. Only a good dose of pepper kees this evn remotely traditional. Still, it is quenching.
