2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
"Looked forward to this unique beer, but it was a let down all around. NO belgian pale ale aspects to this at all. Generic grapey sweetness, and the rest is a muddled (FLAT) mess. Not completely unpleasant but no distinguishable character whatsoever. No carbonation didnt help."

Slightly hazy copper pour. Simply great nose. Complex with white grape, kumquat, and pithy orange. Taste is more subdued. Bitter and dry finish.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Muddy orange-amber with white head / Nose of orchard fruit, caramel, citrus, and brett / Medium body, a touch thin, sweet and malty, with fair hopping, and light bitter finish / Flavors of rotting apple, caramel, oak, horse blanket, and manure / The ambition is there, but it is just a little ungainly.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Head is initially small, frothy, off-white to light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy medium to dark amber.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (cookie, toasted grain), lightly hoppy (apricot), lightly yeasty (basement), with notes of gum, unripe/sour peach, apple/etc. peels, wood.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean.
Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
As with the Apple Saison, this comes off as a dump-bucket / semi-infected beer. Hops are all but gone in both nose and mouth...very little aroma or bitterness left. Souring fruit, some chewing gum...not much else. Bleh.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle #578. Pours a hazy, red-copper with a finger of offwhite head. Settles quickly with minimal lacing. A beautiful looking beer. Aromas is fruity, floral, with definite wine barrel tones. Slight funky hints. Flavor is sweet malty and fruity up front, fading into strong oak and wine flavors. The wine barrel flavor is very prominent. The taste doesn’t linger long. Does a good job masking the alcohol. Soft carbonation as expected, an a medium light body. Smooth mouthfeel with a clean finish. A very nice beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big barnyard smells up front. Sweet vanilla. Wood. The taste starts as a creamy Belgian. Tart. Vanilla. Very crisp. Flavor drops off a little quicker then I would like.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: NOV 28, 2012 750 ml. swing top bottle. Number 164 of 1350. 7.4% ABV. per the label. Pours a thin, poorly retained, light beige head, with minimal lacing, over a hazy, amber (SRM 14) body........nose is light fruits (apple, pear), honey tones, citrus.....taste is sweet throughout, very vinous, with citrus, peach and mango tones, finishing with light hints of bitterness....mouth feel medium, astringent, sticky, carbonation low. This particular bottle is a jumbled mess. It does not come close to being a Pale Ale. It is more of a sweet Saison. The wine barrels are probably something white given the vinous sweet qualities. I really did not like this beer, but it is JUST a failed experiment from a new brewery, not an indictment of their skill or ultimate success. BJCP 7/3/9/4/5

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle @ home, picked up at Argonaut Denver. Pours a hazy, dark amber brown appearance with little head and no retention. Blood orange, wine, overripe tangerine, tangy aroma. Zippy, dull tangerine, clementine, herbal, dull vinous, spicy, light phenolic, tangy flavor with very light to nonexistent carbonation. Bottle conditioning doesn’t seem to have added much here. Not a good first introduction to a brewery, especially at $13/bottle.
