COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
What do you do with such a Wayward beer? We know, you’re probably thinking its’ behavior is our own fault. You’re probably right! Our self-control ran dangerously low as we took a perfectly respectable, traditional All-American Pale Ale and adultered it with New Zealand hops of all things! The blackberry, grapefruit and watermelon candy notes of these hops made this beer incorrigible... Nothing confinement in American Oak barrels couldn’t fix! For a while, it was unclear who might win. In the end, American Oak will bend but will not break. The mellow vanilla notes, persistent oak tannins and the medium toast of the barrels encouraged the crazy hops to meld with the All-American Pale Ale for a beer only borne from staunch independents bound together by their Wayward spirits.

750ml bottle, 122 of 540, poured a murky bottle conditioned orange-brown hue w/ a thin beige head. Big sweet aromas of apricot, watermelon, earth, lemon, and caramel. Initial flavor is moderate sweet w/ a sour finish. Tastes are apricot, watermelon, red grapefruit, oak, white wine, vanilla, white peppercorn and hay. Medium bodied, creamy texture, flat carbonation, and a light warmth in the finish.

Damn....second killer brew I have had from these guys. Bottle 13 of 540. About a year old in the bottle. Nose of cherry cough syrup, oak, malt. Malty sweet front then syrupy cherry watermelon almost sour tardiness. Red wine barrel very well integrated. Extremely well balanced. These guys are knocking it outta the park for me so far.

Falling Rock during GABF. Clear brilliant golden with a large fluffy white head. Leafy hoppy sweet aroma with a touch of tangerine and/or orange sweetness. Smooth flavor with mild-low hop bitterness, some caramel and some sweet clementine fruitiness. Mild and balanced hoppy dry ending.

Sampled at the Colorado State Fair, Foam Fest ’12. Pour is hazy amber with a big, off-white head and good lacing. Huge citrus, orange juice, tangerine, grapefruit, wood, and light vanilla in the aroma; super fruity. Taste is much more muted, with notes of orange, light grass, grapefruit, and caramel ending lightly bitter. Light body with high carbonation. Pretty nice barrel aged APA, with a wonderful aroma.

Sampled on 10/15/2012. Bottle 96 of 540. This American Pale Ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 750ml swing top bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet, woody, yeasty and slightly spicy. A medium bodied American Pale Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy and citrusy. Lively carbonation. Hints of oak, some yeast, some hops and some spiciness at the finish. This beer is INCREDIBLY smooth and nicely balanced. Hints of orange and orange peel, some grapes and a hint of pepper. Nice barrel aged beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
