3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Slightly cloudy, bold and bright orange in color with an off-white head, this beautiful Belgo IPA has a sweet, doughy, and fruity aroma that’s thick and almost... Almost candy-like. It’s somewhat light and yet sharp in the mouth, with a soft hop palate that’s yeasty, but clean. It finishes easy and superbly clean, with mellow hops, malts, just about everything, but all components still very well present. Very easy and inoffensive for a Belgo IPA,and avoids pitfalls of both styles. Excellent. (6.9% ABV)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml. swing top bottle number 256 poured into a Tulip at 45°. Color is an orange gold with very light carbonation and a fluffy off white head that falls with nice lacing. Aroma of a fruity Belgian yeast with citrusy hops. It has a bolder medium body with a rich smooth mouth feel. Flavor is citrus, pineapple, caramel, and white pepper. The citrus gives a mild bitterness and a faint note of oak shows. After taste is dry with a wine like feel and the oak gives off some whisky. As it warms the barrel flavors stand out more letting the wine come forward. Overall its a great brew, I think they hit what they where trying for.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml. bottle. Number 642 of 840. Pours a medium, short retention, ivory head, with extensive lacing, over a slightly hazy, amber (SRM 14) body.......nose is pine, citrus peel, pineapple, light barnyard, floral honey....taste is pine, citrus peel, sweet honey, barnyard funk, hints of pepper, finishing with moderate lingering, medium sweet, bitterness....mouth feel medium, carbonation low. This is a very different creation, and a very unusual IPA. It seems a cross of Orval, a Saison, with a smidgen of an IPA. Both the wine and whiskey barrels were used in such a way as to be fairly hidden, but this is a very interesting and thoroughly complex beer. BJCP 8/3/15/4/7

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Falling Rock GABF 2012. Clearish light copper, with a thick foamy white head. Interesting. Hop aroma with some sharp yet sweet citric hoppiness, with pine resin and floral sweetness. Very delicious smelling. And delicious tasting! Big floral and citric hop flavors with a little resin and grassy flavors as well, medium bitterness, with a firm sweet backbone of pale grains, fresh cut flower sweetness, and a touch of lavender. Very balanced, very assertive and flavorful, and very eccentric.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Wow...okay, brand new brewery really bringing it...515 of 840 Batch 1. Nice floral hop and malty nose with nuances of ginger, spices, and oak. Aromas leapt out of the bottle. Bottle opened with a burst (did bring to ~8000 feet? in Taos from mile high Denver), strong carbonation. Slightly cloudy amber. Great spice and hops with sweet malt balance. Complex but doesn’t demand contemplation, just wants to be enjoyed. Gotta get the others from these guys...way to represent. Super tasty.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled at the Colorado State Fair, Foam Fest ’12. Pour is deep copper with a frothy white head and great lacing. Light spice, orange peel, fruity esters, light alcohol, and grass in the aroma. Taste is white pepper, grass, pine, biscuit, resin, and weed with a medium bitter finish. Medium body with medium-to-high carbonation. Another solid offering from this brewery and probably the best I have had up to this point. I really like what these guys are doing. Tasty stuff.
