[Bottle (650ml) shared with GregClow, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o j&m] Pours a very dark brown with red hues and an average size lasting frothy light-brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, wood, a hint of bourbon, some coffee and light hops. Flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, wood, vanilla, light hops and a bit of alcohol. Medium bodied. Good stuff.

2014-05-02. Black body with a nice tan head and lace. 3++ Aroma is sweet dark malt, light alcohol and muted roast. Flavour is fairly sweet, good amount of sweet vanilla and bourbon, a hint of maple that may be there or just in my head. Lingering nice bourbon, and light wood. Dark malt core. Smooth medium to full bodied palate, soft carbonation. Smooth and relatively drinkable for the abv. Bottle is probably close to a year old but itís pretty nice. Bottle via trade with Ferris

Countbeer (4424) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - APR 12, 2014
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Small beige creamy light brown foamy head on top of a black colored beer. Aromas of bourbon, cream, mocha, molasses, coffee, light liquorice, light toffee. Wow delicious aroma! Flavours of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, espresso, coffee beans, molasses, wood, roast, some liquorice, light spicy, some mocha, some prunes and bitters. Aftertaste is a mix of coffee, bourbon, bitter, chocolate, coffee beans... Low carbo, creamy silky mouthfeel, full bodied and a creamy oily texture. Wow, very interesting beer, balanced, deep and somewhat complex...

Bottle thanks to Ferris and Vertbaconstrips. Pours very dark brown with mocha brown head. Nose and taste of bourbon, oak, vanilla, burnt maple syrup, roast chocolate, brown sugar and alcohol soaked brownie. A touch much on the sweet side. Medium body.

Best black pour with a short tan head. Some wood aims and light maple, along with roast malt. Taste is sweet maple sugar and smoky malt. Body a bit thin but a good beer.

Jet black pour with brown head. Aroma gives off maple, moderate roast, dark berries. Some initial maple sweetness that is quickly dominated by deep roasted malts and sweet, boozy whisky notes. Not incredibly full bodied. Major alcohol and black liquorice length. Good sipper.

Shared my last bottle with colleagues at work. Wonderful collaboration beer and I wish I had several more in the cellar. Pours pitch black with small tan head. Vanilla, malt. licorice, caramel notes. Very well balanced, not too boozy. Great share beer for this time of year.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of sweet residual sugar notes with some black chocolate notes with some bourbon, wood and some vanilla notes. Taste is also dominated by black chocolates notes with some bourbon and some wood notes and vanilla. Body is quite full with good carbonation and some warming alcohol notes. Good beer but a bit too much residual sugar for my taste.

Visual: Wax-sealed beer bottle, quite fancy for a very affordable beer. Also a bit more of a hassle to open and pour without getting crud in your glass but an added level of security if do you decide to stash a bottle away for later (who are you kidding of course itíll be drunk by 2015). Pours jet black thicker viscosity with almost no head, micro-cream CO2, looking like a usual imperial stout. Nose: light bourbon, maple-caramel malts, vanilla (8/10-strength aromatics) Attack: incoming bourbon alcoholic thick malts, syrupy viscosity Mid-palate: subdued alcohol, (MAIN) bright 7/10-sweet caramel malts, cola, maple, light-med sourness (HINTS) vanilla, saltiness Finish: oaked malty phlegm, light-med coffee bitter clean finish. Summary: I certainly like label, wax-seal and attractive naming of the contents. Finely balanced and flavourful, but lacks the creamy texture and more complexity to make it legendary.

Bottle generously shared by toffsbury. The perfect embodiment of my trip to Portland and Vancouver. Black with a gorgeous brown head. Aroma of bourbon, light maple (though maybe just because I know thereís maple in it; canít say for sure), and spice. Smooth taste with sweet vanilla, roasted barley, and a boozy bitter finish. Surprisingly not-too-thick body. A good dessert beer.
