Visual: Pours inkjet black with a smallish creamy head, a thin layer of retention, some lacing, active streams visible near the surface.
Nose: rich caramel malts (lvl-7)-pungency
Attack: light fizzy-creamy, incoming heavy malts
Mid-palate: alcohol heaviness, (lvl-6)-sweetness, (MAIN) caramel malts, subtle roast, chocolate, soy sauce, cola, sweet oaked whiskey
Finish: tingly, medium boozy, sweet chocolate malt finish with light hopped bitterness.
Summary: Solid flavours, body, and drinkability. It could be a bit creamier but overall texture is pleasant.

Pours dark and thick with tan head. Rich sweet chocolaty nose. Full mouthfeel with low carbonation. Chocolate flavour combined with plum notes underlying. Not bad but wouldn’t drink a six pack.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2014 bomber. Pours almost black with faded ruby edges. Initial pour showed a promising, sizzly, airy caramel cap, but 83 seconds later, nothing more than 2 zits (large ’face’ whiteheads w/ surrounding irritation) and a thin edge ring. No lacing. Aroma of a mud-pie, molasses, vanilla, cocoa, over-ripe plum, bourbon, wood, alcohol. Taste is sweet. Low carbonation and chewy.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
2014 Bottle, big thanks to Jan! Pours dark brown with small, light brown head. Settles quickly with minimal lacing. Aroma is vanilla, caramel bourbon, oaky, toasty, smells fairly sweet, mildly fruity. Flavor is fairly sweet up front, plum, fading smoothly into a vanilla, sweet bourbon finish. Not much stout roast remaining, mostly sweet bourbon. Very soft carbonation, medium-full body, smooth texture, and warm finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from a chilled 650 ml bottle. Extremely dark pour with mocha colored creamy head that disappeared fairly quickly. I have no idea why, but I smell something oily, coconut oil, maybe from the wax coating that was put outside. I smell sone whisky as well. The first sip of this dark elixir, fills your mouth with a variety of complex tastes. Very smooth liquid that coats your entire mouth. Initial taste is of smooth chocolate and burnt malts.
It leaves a slight taste of smokey whiskey with a hint of something subtle, maybe vanilla.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Black with minimal tan head. Aroma of tobacco, whiskey, mild dark chocolate and vanilla. Taste of tobacco, chocolate, and mild whiskey, mild alcohol. Nice complexity. This just took the spot of my favourite Parallel 49 beer (Toques of Hazard a very close second).

Shared bomber. Hueless darkest brown, firm foamy mocha head settles and fades. Chocolate dark roast aroma and taste, sweet and malty, caramel and coffee, oaky vanilla and a hint of whiskey. Soft carbonation, medium-full bodied, light spicy herbal floral hop presence. Bittersweet finish. DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys) Paired with ’Vladmir Poutine’ Deep Fried Pelmeni with Cheddar Curds, Foi Gravy and Truffle Oil.
