3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
650 ml bottle. This suffers from the inevitable comparison to Driftwood Singularity -- itís closest B.C. contemporary. The P49 is sweeter, not as dark, not as complex, not as balanced, not as strong. Itís syrupy, dark and tasty, true, but itís also raw, very bitter and overly dry. I donít have the patience to cellar my beer, but this might improve if you leave it alone in a dark place for a few months.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
A lovely aroma of carmel and malts with a hint of alcohol. It pours black with a small tight bubble head that clings to the edge of the glass and reminds me of a monkís tonsure. The ring of head lasts for quite a while. The taste is of fruit, maybe prunes and there is a gentle effervescence. The drink leaves a pleasant but slightly bitter after taste. Mouth feel is substantial but not too thick. This is a pleasant warming beverage that I would put up beside other top imperial stouts like North Coast Old Rasputin.
