COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the 18th century, this bold, strong stout was brewed in London for the long and treacherous trip to the Imperial courts of Russia. In keeping with this stoic tradition, this whiskey-barrel aged imperial stout is warm, full bodied and fit for a Czar. Ingredients: Roasted Barley, Pale, Chocolate, Munich & Crystal Malts, Magnum & Fuggles Hops, Yeast.

(650ml bottle) Purchased at Liquor Plus Douglas. Pours a medium, rich brown head atop a black head. Toasted notes, cocoa bits and black licorice. The flavour is smooth - some soy and deep roasted and toffee malts and waffer bars. Bang on in presentation and execution. Very nice. --- reviewed on RateBeer.com

A lovely aroma of carmel and malts with a hint of alcohol. It pours black with a small tight bubble head that clings to the edge of the glass and reminds me of a monk’s tonsure. The ring of head lasts for quite a while. The taste is of fruit, maybe prunes and there is a gentle effervescence. The drink leaves a pleasant but slightly bitter after taste. Mouth feel is substantial but not too thick. This is a pleasant warming beverage that I would put up beside other top imperial stouts like North Coast Old Rasputin.

Visual: Pours inkjet black with a smallish creamy head, a thin layer of retention, some lacing, active streams visible near the surface. Nose: rich caramel malts (lvl-7)-pungency Attack: light fizzy-creamy, incoming heavy malts Mid-palate: alcohol heaviness, (lvl-6)-sweetness, (MAIN) caramel malts, subtle roast, chocolate, soy sauce, cola, sweet oaked whiskey Finish: tingly, medium boozy, sweet chocolate malt finish with light hopped bitterness. Summary: Solid flavours, body, and drinkability. It could be a bit creamier but overall texture is pleasant.

Pours dark and thick with tan head. Rich sweet chocolaty nose. Full mouthfeel with low carbonation. Chocolate flavour combined with plum notes underlying. Not bad but wouldn’t drink a six pack.
