3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
341ml bottle pours almost black in color with a finger of off-white head that leaves spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is light roasted grains with some grapefruit and pine. Taste is a grapefruit and pine hop bitterness with a light chocolate malty sweetness. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. A nicely done black IPA that needs to be sampled.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Fruity citrus aroma, dark malts give some coffee flavours, viscosity is medium, a nice standard black IPA but missing that hop profile where you can pick out special flavours. Quite good, though.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
650mL bottle, pours near-black with a small beige head. Aroma of light roast, caramel malt and some mild hop presence. Flavour brings out dry coffee, light roast, some woody hops and a bit of caramel. Quite dry and well-balanced, but lacking much depth or oomph. Solid stuff.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Darkest brown, no hue. Foamy mocha head settles. Piney hop, sweet malt aroma. Roasted dark malts contrast nicely with an abundance of piney hops. Average carbonation, medium bodied, medium hopped. Sweetens a bit as it warms, thick finish. Nice CDA/BIPA NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: NOV 23, 2015 pours super dark coffee black/brown with a very small creamy head, some sticky lacing, thin ringed retention, a few active clustered streams. Toasted caramel malts on the nose. Drinks with a bright sharp-hoppiness up front, 7/10-sweetness, roasted-toasted caramel medium malts, clinging hoppy bitterness, coffee, dark fig/dates, grapefruit sourness in the mids and finish, ending with a mildly grapefruit sour hoppy light-med bitter finish. Overall medium bodied with a partially watery mouthfeel. Medium complexity, medium depth, good transitions, good carry, good drinkability.
[Re-tasted 11/2015]:Visual: Pours dark cola brown, tiny head, murky half thin retention.
Nose: sweet brown sugar roasted caramel barley malts (lvl-9)-pungency
Attack: fizzy-micro CO2, incoming dark malts
Mid-palate: (MAIN) nutty, thick caramel malts, coffee -> (lvl-7)-sweetness
Finish: burnt citrus sourness = astringent malty finish.
Summary: I’m not digging the finish; the mouth is left with an incoherent hoppy burnt maltiness, not good. Attack, mids and structure are fine.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black pour with a thick tan head. Aroma is grapefruit, spruce, burnt toast, a little earthy. Smooth and roasted with a nice balance. The hops give a nice grapefruit flavour which lingers on the finish while the dark malts provide nice contrast in the body. Though, it’s surprisingly mellow and easy drinking.
