4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
341 mL Bottle. Amber body with a small frothy off-white head leaving lots of stringy lace. The aroma is sweet light malts with subtle hints of vanilla and caramel, and grapefruit-resiny hops. Sweet light malts and crystal malt dominate, then there is an astringent / spicy aftertaste and a piquant part that I absolutely love. and then shades of the crystal malt and hops merge in the finish. Gorgeous! Bonus points for a very one-of-kind-mouthfeel.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap. Pours a reddish brown with no head. Aromas of brown sugar pine/citrus of pacific northwest hops. Flavors are similar although more pronounced; toffee/brown sugar and lemons/oranges with roast malts. Good balance with these hops. Very nice.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2014 On tap at Sunset Grill in Kitsilano. A nice dark amber color. Very prominent hops up front. A bit of malt backing. Nice one.
And more recently on tap at Oscar’s Pub in East Van. Served in a P49 signature sleeve. Satisfying malts with a prominent hop note. Still a nice one!
And July 12, 2014 on tap at Earl’s in Yaletown in Vancouver. A murky dark brown beer, with generous light tan head, served in an absolutely massively heavy glass sleeve. still a magnificent balance of crisp hops and warming malts. 3.9.

Bottle from the LCBO. Smells like bread malt with some spice and piney hop notes. Taste has brown sugar, caramel malt, with a mild bitter orange peel finish. Tasty stuff.

This is delicious. Hoppy, citrous, , floral, malty, and quite frankly delicious. This was a big surprise taste wise, I did not expect what I got. I will buy more of this and maybe make it my go to in a pickle if need be.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
341ml bottle from variety pack. Pours a minimal head with nice lacing qualities. Colour is hazy caramel (Lovibond 20). Aroma is intensely complex - pine, peat, berries, sarsaparilla and citrus. Taste is initially hoppy, with a wet, earthy undertone. Greasy/wet palate. Gives way to sweeter, hay and citrusy aftertaste. Medium to long finish. Decent beer!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at Cask Days 2012. Thirteenth beer of the fest. As ’Gyparillo Red IPA’. Pours a dark amber-brown with a small beige head. Fruity, resiny, hoppy aroma is quite nice. There’s some caramel malt in the back and a hint of spice in there too. Flavour is good but pales slightly next to that great aroma. Very fruity with light hops and a hint of spice. Average bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good overall.

A study in Cascade hops, really. Extremely simple, but clean and quaffable. I guess this is the Pacific Northwest version of the English bitters you see in every little town made with the same ingredients over there. Enough resin to make me happy, crystal malt adds depth, and the drink winds up very quaffable. I’m really glad they made something this simple so well; one of the best BC "sessionables".

Clear redish brown rusty pour with a clingy white head. Hoppy and flowery scent. A bit nutty, flowery and lots of fruits. Just a touch of bitterness. Rather like this. The brewers saw we should be able to find this in the LCBO next week or so. I’ll be picking some up when we do.
